This is to answer a new user's questions.

 

This vid covers making both the usual Pose Slider type of Pose and also the mysterious, rarely sighted "draggable and droppable" Pose.

Thank you so much. Watching this felt like watching a long lost TAOAM chapter video. Poses didn't really get too much attention in the book. I never knew I could use rotate like that on the bones! Seems so trivial but some how I just never picked that up. I used this video to fix my 2001 skeleton rig's default hand clench poses and finished a superman body pose.

tried the Ward shader but could not dl that either?

That's interesting about the draggable pose... I did not know that. Thanks for the enlightenment!

 

I think its greatest use may be for quickly blocking in mouth poses for dialog, something that typically involves a number of bones or controls that , for polishing and nuance, need to be not locked to each other as a pose slider control does.

 

There's a $200 add-on for Maya that has the same functionality.

think of the ragged mass of criss-crossing lines that is Eugene's hand in a close-up,

turning, trying to pinpoint the right roll handle then turning again to control the curl.

all the while i could've selected the finger in PWS, hit r and used the blue ring...
