Mario isn't opening correctly for me. I keep getting a message that says: Error in model file, spline attachement. anchor= 262145 cp= 1 Attmepting to continue.

 

This is just a hand model that tido had posted earlier. Someone else could check to see if it works for them and if it does then my version must not be high enough.

hey everyone, sorry i've been gone again.

my aunt has cancer and we traveled from Florida all the way to Oklahoma to see her!

 

any i've seen the progress and i like the castle! as of the wings i'll link them a again but this time i'll do it a bit differently.

 

the fact that the wings are a lower version than you guys could be the cause of the problem...tell me exactly what happens when you try to load the wing model....

 

and i'm still waiting on the update my mom should have gotten months ago...

 

also i like the new site, but once i update that header image has got to go! ;)

 

and i still don't like letting the possibly largest forum on the hash forums just die out.....

after reading some more i realized something, how come you guys arent backing up your files? you should have a minimum of 3 copies for every single model, material, project file or what ever, if you don't you'll be sorry......

BTW, why 3 copies? protection against coincidence?

 

for three cases(or more):

 

1. you lose the file

2. the file some how is corrupted

3. you messed up something and ended up saving it

4. some thing very random and extraordinary.....

 

 

3 is better than two at anytime in fact for important models i make, i have around 5 copies some in ZIP files.

 

(what do you think of the header?)

I have v13 with the yeti cd too. I was able to open a model by tanner which appeared to have the same version as mario. The only difference:

 

Tido's:

ProductVersion=13.08

Release=13.0o PC

 

Tanner's:

ProductVersion=13.08

 

I ave v.13.04. Not sure how this will help me open mario but i was wondering if tanner was able to open the hand model.

 

...and i have at least 5 copies of luigi.

so you need a newer version then...newer models aren't compatible with an older A:M

 

is that the version you bought? if so you can upgrade to v14....

 

when you buy a new A:M you get one year of free updates, if you bought v13 you can get v14 updates.....

 

do you have the oz cd?

hey black mage! i like that you like the castle. i will post an update later. btw where did you travel to in oklahoma? i live in oklahoma. that would have been neat to meet each other!! sorry about your grandma too. my grandma just found out that she has cancer not too long ago. she has cervical cancer. she is doing good though.

Yes, i bought v13 but i don't have the oz cd. So then if i got v14 updates then i would be able to get mario?

and yeah that should work, older models work with newer ones no problem(in most cases).

ok well one since its a boys room(and didn't notice the urinals lol) then and purple or pink color is not acceptable...now if you want a light color and shade of blue is ok.

 

as of the lighting hers what you do, it requires a lot of lights but it should be effective. you have the bulbs at the roof i see, so go ahead an put kleig lights on those reaching half-way(or almost) to the floor and the softness of 100%. do that with all the lights. after that the place will still be pretty dark. all you need is allot of low intensity bulb lights all over the room each one is non specularity and does not cast shadows. put them any ware necessary to lighten up dark areas. another thing is for your kleig lights turn the shadows to z bufferd then set the shadow softness to around 30% or 50%, doing this gives a kinda ambient occlusion look. you can also set the shadow darkness any ware from 60% to 30%. try adding you own stuff you think might work, but these are things that i use. soft and light shadows and a couple of bulbs were used for the living room scene i made(non radiosity one). but that one was for one angle, so try and make the room acceptable from all angles(or all the necessary ones anyway)...hope this helps...

I'll see what I can do for the lighting but there has got to be a better way. That would be around 20 lights! I'll try it but it sounds awfully inefficient.

much better...

 

as of in efficient, unless you want to use radiosity and have every frame render for 5 hours+ (which is a total under statement, that living room scene i did [the one with radiosity] took 18 hours to render, the worst part is that it didn't turn out right) then this is pretty much the only way. if you get the settings right you will only need the bulb lights to lighten dark areas of models and not shadows. doing this allows for efficient render times, it may be alot of lights but really its not that bad. just think about how dark areas would be in a real life situation and take as many short cuts as possible without sacrificing a looking render. remember lighting is one of the most important stages, if you do it badly/lazily than all that other hard work wont be done justice...

i am going to post an update of the castle now. mage have you figured out a way for the wings?

 

oh my bad hold on....

 

EDIT: i embedded it this time and it should work...

 

save the wing model from this its only a project file, i expect it to work, plus i figured it would be cool to post the winged mushroom file is nuns wanted to mess with it...which he still hasn't said anything about....

are you extracting the file first? i can't figure it out....nuns you try opening it, curry can you get it to work? any one with v13 try and open it and give it to tan...i'll try and figure something out my self...

 

 

and nuns still no comment on the banner i made....
