  1. Here's some more on robert's face. I've only just done the CFA so I haven't really commenced the tweaking/removing unnecessary splines phase much
  2. The real problem will arise the day when someone needs to animate the glow on one object (or portion of the object) in the chor, but not the other...
  3. This is all looking really great! Glad to see you're still persevering and pushing this through!
  4. My apologies! I've fixed it on the blog but I'm sure I've gotten it wrong elsewhere then... And everyone can check out Gerald's bio here!
  5. That kinda wavy, almost invisible look, right? Like pavement on a hot summer's day. I've always wondered how to do such an effect as well..
  6. It is long overdue for an update here! So, where to start? I guess first I should extend thanks to Robert, Gerald and Michael who have graciously volunteered to be voices in Red Squad! With that we have our full cast! The voice recordings have been coming in and I've been piecing together a rough cut of the episode which so far is sounding really good! We have a talented bunch of voice actors and it is really awesome to start hearing it come together! I guess next I should mention that Red Squad has an official site/blog now. So here's an update of Red Squad links for those interested! The Official Site/Blog The Official Facebook Page The Official Youtube Channel There are still elements of the website that are a WIP but they're coming along. With that said, Robert, Gerald and Michael, if you so wish there is a bios section on the website and if you feel so inclined to send a pic and a short bio for us to put on the website, then just send it to stredsquad@gmail.com If you want a little inspiration or want to see what others have done, you can check out the current (two) bios that are up on the site here and here. On the modelling front, the interior of a small space station is coming along and I've begun modelling Robert's (Robcat) face! Still in the early stages so a little rough in some places and the splinage definitely isn't final yet. I'm gonna admit I'm not entirely happy with the look of the station interior and might rebuild it and cannibilize more pieces from the Enterprise and Pegasus set to make it look more Federationy. Right now it just looks too Earth Link Zero... Now I'm trying to remember what else we've done since the last update! Ummm, oh, here's a shot that Chris K has ready which actually is from the episode itself. And here's a couple matte paintings my brother has down for some of the space backgrounds for this episode: And finally, one last render that Chris K just did up recently! In retrospect I think we kinda hoped we'd have more done by now, but I guess one just keeps chugging along and it'll be done when it's done!
  7. Thats something Ive wanted for a while myself, especially after learning that other programs could do it. It makes asteroid fields a lot simpler to create for one...
  8. That looks really good!
  9. What the hell, maybe I'll throw something together. I do have a bunch of Red Squad characters built already, suppose I could do something fun with that
  10. Holy cow! That was a fairly easy vote on my part, one of them really stood out to my particular tastes! But they were all really well done and so good show everyone!
  11. I wonder if I'd win if I submitted an image of a single white patch....
  12. There were 2 major changes to my knowledge to the set and that was after season 1 and then after season 3. I always kinda consider season 3 and on "more TNG" than the first two seasons. There are remastered pics from post season 3, but that does suck how there's no official colour guide. And I do hope you will do it someday at least, I;d very much love to see TNG parodied in your style!
  13. Mark, for TNG colours, I'd look into what screenshots are available from the TNG Remastered project. I have the sampler blu-ray and what pics are online are both gorgeous, clear and very vibrant. Also, there's a fair difference in the colours due to the lack of what I'll call the analogue effect which TNG has suffered from. Now with them rescanning the actual negatives, the true colours are finally available.
  14. And here's some more on the ship itself. Just kinda laying down some of the major components at this point and will refine as I go along
  15. Here's all that I'm working with at the moment then. Potemkin.zip
  16. Both 1 pass and no pass renders fine with no noise EDIT: Interesting, I set it back to 16 passes and the noise thing has disappeared EDIT EDIT: Seems to have reasserted itself in the render to file function though. This is the final saved render too, no AO, but 16x Multipass
  17. It just renders too fast for me to hit print screen, but it's the same. On pass 1 it looks fine in V16. In V17 the more passes it has, the finer it gets, but I can still notice it there in the end result still should not happen so i am not sure... how does the end result look? maybe it is a technik to avoid rendering pixels several times? *Fuchur* It's acceptable, however it's still semi-noticeable, at least to me cause I kinda look for it. Of course if the background were like neon green or something it might stand out more
  18. Here we go. From the modeling window with no AO. This is the first pass in both V16 and V17 V16: V17:
  19. Yeah, fortunately by the time the final pass is done its not overly noticeable. Ill post the first pass in non ao when I get home. All I know is that v16 and earlier never did this sort of thing for me. On the whole though I am liking v17 with the exception of a few minor bugs and lovin the faster render time. I mean that's pretty awesome that v17 shaved off a minute and a half in an ao render!
  20. Like I said though, it happens when AO is set to off and happens in the modeling window too. The noise is the colour of the background, so in the modeling window it's a blue-ish colour and in the chor it's whatever I have the camera colour set to
  21. Gonna use this as a dual thread of sorts. First of all I'm modeling that constitution refit that I had troubles with in the prop import thread. Second of all, I'm doing it in V17 and seeing how it runs. So first up, some pics and a quick benchmark! So here it is in V16 AO: 30% Global Ambience: 80% Occlusion: 95% Multi-Pass 16x 720p Render Time: 7:37 V17 Beta 5: AO: 30% Global Ambience: 80% Occlusion: 95% Multi-Pass 16x 720p Render Time: 6:09 Now you may see it there, there's noise over the saucer in the V17 one and it's the color of the background. This is apparent in both quick render and render to file and more apparent in the earlier passes and apparent without AO. I have sent off a report though
  22. I'm a little ashamed to say I never really knew Paul much, our paths just didn't cross all that often. However he did appear to be quite supportive of Red Squad and always seemed to be willing to help and tinker with anyone's problems and projects and creations around here and he will definitely be missed. My condolences.
  23. We'll see how it holds up on my system. I'm still a little miffed how my SSS time had to increase drastically when I upgraded OS's. Anyways, nuff of my whining
