  1. The symbiont materials will only aimate if it is built to, in which case, it will do it automatically. The only thing you can probably animate manually is the colours and stuff like that, the same that you would any material. Open the drivers, go to the shortcut of the material, then insert keyframes and change the colours and anything else the symbiont lets you. The only ones that animate that I know of are in the vfx_animated folder. Apply those materials, and they automatically animate, you can see it when you render a movie.
  2. As far as I know, they just set their shots up and when the go to bed they hit render and let it render for the amountof time it takes. At least that's what they said on my Andromeda DVDs.
  3. The question is, what class of vessel are you animating. Each class has something different for the bussards. Everyone is focusing on the constitution, but if this is for your challenger model, than it looks like the bussards are somewhat different. They appear more gaseous, with a little hint of tsomething spinning, but not quite as pronounced as the constitution class.
  4. Here's a little reference, Enterprise nx 01 It appears there's some yellow in the bussard collectors as well.
  5. Well, that was, bizarre, but interesting! The bumbs or displacement or whatever on the cube was created using materials and not decals?
  6. There's always next years mechanical contest, or, you could submit it into the sci fi fantasy one in september, you'd almost certainly win. Remember, there's always time to model, so don't drop something this fantastic because of time. Even if it's only a spline a day, pick away at it.
  7. The Dave Rogers book has a whole chapter on relationships and expressions, I could look and see if he says anything, but when I read the book, I just skipped thaqt chapter because that stuff was WAY to complex for me!!
  8. I know it's a different tripod, but on the steven speilberg WOTW, there is a special feature showing the gys at ILM animating the tripods, so that might help. If you type it in, you might find it on youtube or something
  9. I'm not an expert, but it is on its way to being really good. There's a bit of reality in it because of some of the movements, making it feel like it has some force, and i think that if you implement what dhar and ruscula have said, it will be really believable. Great work so far!
  10. Can't wait, the model already looks like something from the tv show.
  11. Would you just use AM composite? I've been wondering about tga's, all I ever use are either avi or mov, though I find avi has a better render quality. Of course I use Pinnacle to edit all my video stuff. For playback on DVD with pinnacle is SO easy! Just import, set up a dvd menu and chapters right in pinnacle and then export straight to the disc at whatever quality you like. Pinnacle is only about $100. Anyways, I don't know if after effects has something similar of just import and then export straight to disc or not. Why not post a screenshot(s) of what's going on in after effects, maybe it'll give everybody a better idea of what's goin on by seeing what you see.
  12. That's true, because if names were copyrighted, than you'd have to pay a company for the name if you wanted to name your child that! That would be crazy!!! I say pick the name that you like the most and stick with it, none of the names that people have suggested are really ones that are to some popular character in a tv show or book or etc.
  13. I don't think you should be all that worried about a name being taken already. There's six and a half billion people on the planet, all with their own ideas, so the chances of you finding a name that isn't already taken, shouldn't be your greatest concern. As long as it's not copyrighted, or you don't plan to copyright, and you don't use a commonly known name like James T Kirk, you should be fine. And if he works for STAR, why not call him something along the lines of Star Striker? Maybe not that particular name, cause it sounds very familiar to me, but I think Striker could work as a last name. Keep this in mind too, the names that usually stand out are the ones that use alliteration in their name! Hope any of that helped!
  14. Sorry about the double post, but just to show what the face is actually for. If you want to see what the OLD captian Heroic was like, visit Cosmic Camera/Captain Heroic
  15. Ha ha, this is cool, i think that if I had the program, I would just build faces all day for no reason. Can somebody try this out for me, it's a sketch, so everything doesn't line up perfectly, but try it out with that program please.
  16. Thanks, I think I'll try that on my next attempt.
  17. I will say that I'm using Ruscular's version, it helps me a lot to see where the splinage is in a face made with AM and I greatly appreciate it. As you can see from my failed attempts, I'm not really good at faces
  18. That's cool. Is it possible that you could attach a model without the textures that canh be used in AM? If not, can you attach any form of the model that AM will read, textured or not.
  19. I'm workingo on changing a project that I'd started in Anim8or to Animation Master, and then making a feature film, but I need a little help. I need someone who can make a photorealistic face. I've tried four times, but it comes out way to wonky to work. The rotoscopes are attached to this post and if anybody is willing to do it, please let me know!! All I need is the face, you don't have to do the whole head becuase I have different ideas for the hair and the rotoscopes attached are just guidelines for the project. I don't need the face textured or rigged, I can do all of that, all I need is it built, so help me please! Oh, the face is about 10 inches tall if that's neccesary.
  20. Thank you, looks like you animated the material as well for the effect. correct? I was wondering how you did that. For animating the material, go into the action window with the phaser as the model. In the pws, next to shortcut to phaser, click the show more than drivers. Right now it is red, but when clicked, turns the normal color. Expand that until you see groups. Next to the phaser group, there shpuld be shortcut to material 1 or whatever i called it. Create keyframes like you would for anything else. In the properties window, change the translation between the first keyframe and the next one (or last whichever you prefer). Render and your done. I've now experimented with photon torpedoes, it takes a lot of tweaking with the numbers, but it's getting there. I'll post an animation soon.
  21. Here's the prj with just the phaser. phaser.prj
  22. I can attach a file soon. My pws is a little messy at the moment. The wrap around effect was just a lens flare with no reflection, so it's easy enough to get rid of. BTW, do you want the galaxy class model as well for the phaser, or just the phaser.
