Thank you, looks like you animated the material as well for the effect. correct? I was wondering how you did that. For animating the material, go into the action window with the phaser as the model. In the pws, next to shortcut to phaser, click the show more than drivers. Right now it is red, but when clicked, turns the normal color. Expand that until you see groups. Next to the phaser group, there shpuld be shortcut to material 1 or whatever i called it. Create keyframes like you would for anything else. In the properties window, change the translation between the first keyframe and the next one (or last whichever you prefer). Render and your done. I've now experimented with photon torpedoes, it takes a lot of tweaking with the numbers, but it's getting there. I'll post an animation soon.

Here's the prj with just the phaser. phaser.prj

I can attach a file soon. My pws is a little messy at the moment. The wrap around effect was just a lens flare with no reflection, so it's easy enough to get rid of. BTW, do you want the galaxy class model as well for the phaser, or just the phaser.

Looking for modeler for short Star Wars film
Darkwing replied to PurpleDingo's topic in Work In Progress / Sweatbox
Well, sorry it's been a while, I'm about halfway on the modeling. I don't have a rendered pic yet, but it's looking better from the last time I posted. I don't think I'll have time to build other models for this project. Sorry. -

Great toon rendering, I find we don't get to see all that much of full animated projects done in toon rendering (i could be wrong though, so correct me if I am) -
Nah, that's all right. The gage model won't work either. I just get an error 004 loading. That's all right though, you don't have to post a model, I try something I have here. Edit- Here is a test showing just the beam in action. phaserent.mov phaserent2.mov

I understand, I love them too, I just like the idea of how it would look today. Who knows, maybe in 60 years with new sfx tech, they'll be remaking the effects to popular shos today like battlestar galactica and such.
-
Well that's wierd, I've tried now several times with v13 and it just won't load!
-
Here, have a look at this. It's from the remastered series if it helps any. Amok time remastered
-
I have v13, I haven't a clue what'll happen
-
Um thanks, but it only closes the program. Says something about attempting to connect splines and then says if I can repeat the error to let somebody know and then the program closes.

Hey, what codec did you render it as. I can't view the avi because i don't have the codec and i just want to know which one so i don't have to download all the codecs!

Hey, can I have one of the faster to render models to do some fx testing. It would be faster for me tha nspending the time to model something to test fx for. thanks

Italian Chef: Itz a wonderful, no? Zis iz beautiful. No really, it's pretty darn cool. BTW, I was looking at a REALLY cool fanfilm trek series called New Voyages. I recomend you take a look at it. The effects and animations are really good, you might learn something from the techniques. (Sorry mods, but i didn't want to start a topic just to say that phrase to the trek fans)

That model is incredible! Keep up the good work. (That sounded a little too school teacerish didn't it)
-
Thanks, as for the normals, I'll check that out.

NICE!! Those models are awesome! As for f/x, I'm building a galaxy class ship to test the f/x on. If you want ot keep on the galaxy, it's also in the wip board. So, if you have any use for a galaxy class, I'll have one soon! Keep up the good work though!

NIce water. I like the way it shimmers and everything. It's looking very good.
-
Oh yeah, I was looking at it in the front view and the model wasn't looking right, so I turned the rotoscope back on and found that there was a sort of dip on the sides of the hull. It's a good thing you don't see the back, it's still a little messy!
-
Well, the two nacelles are almost finished, just a little tweaking has to be done to them. Largento, when you mean sharper, do you mean the saucer, or the hull?

Sorry, but it kind of looks like snow or dandruff. Just thought you might want to know. -
Excellent work, it looks very close to being real, and with some tweaks will look awesome!
-
I had the top ones, just not the separated pics. That'll help cause I want to make it separate!
