  1. that is something similar to what I've been dealing with for ELZ. I've been trying to gt the chor action to set a keyframe to merge with the action, but so far, I have to do everything bone by bone which is a nuisance
  2. life has a funny way of working itself out, and my grandmother had a mole removed from her arm this summer, and for being such a small mark on her body, it was like you said, a very large incision
  3. ok, how'd you get that cannon ball matcap working with movement, I coincidentally tried it this morning and it just remains stationary on my object, no matter where it goes and where the light is
  4. very very nice, though I have a question, how are you rendering and/or texturing this to give it that nice look. It's almost like AO without the fuzziness or brightness
  5. I've been fiddling with constraint on bones as well, and from what I can figure, it would go something like this. Create a new pose for your model. In the action window, click on one of the bones, in the properties, there is something about role in a particular axis, try fiddling with that. Sorry I can't be of more help
  6. well, if you're PC, than conversion is unnecessary, as Windows reads MPEG2 better than the Mac does. What type of DVD authoring software did you computer come with (ie, Roxio, Nero etc). If your video is only 6 minutes, I can also author it for you if you wish, or I could just walk you through, doesn't matter to me
  7. sorry, missed the pic, it has most of that info, but yeah, are you windows or mac?
  8. ok, ok, finally someone has hit something more in my area of expertise here! First, some info I need to be clear on, what is your video now? Is it exported as a whole (like an AVI or MOV or something) or is it still in AM? Or, is it in an editing program waiting to be exported? If the original video isn't HD (meaning 720p or higher) then I would say don't bother. If your friend has an HDTV, then most likely has a Blu-Ray player correct? And even if he doesn't, I imagine he has either an upconverter, or his DVD player is using component video rather than composite video. (Stuff ou don't really need to know) but yes, I need to know what the completed vid is at now, and what type of PC you are using
  9. see, that's the point where I would deem the project not worthy, I haven't got patience in that area of nitpicky little things. I can wait around for some things, but not others, this is one of them! That is more proof of Eric's skill as he does have that patience
  10. that's like exactly how i envisioned the sub when I read the book
  11. holy crap, that is amazing, very well done!!!
  12. ..kind of creepy once you really get to staring at him, he kind of stares back.... nice work though, looks smooth
  13. very very, beautiful, it just embodies the whole style of TOS, it's very nice *wipes away a tear*
  14. here's an effect for the "light-up" stage of the hand, when the hand is in an energy form. The unfortunate thing about this is if it were to be applied to a live action model, the CG hand would have to fit the live action hand like as perfectly as possible movinghand.mov
  15. Ok, after digging around the forum, I have found that this is a problem with all versions of AM that has not been addressed in the AM programming, so I'm gonna make a report about it and perhaps we can have the rendering engine fixed
  16. hmm, it would make filming annoying, always having to make sure things are far enough away from the camera that the gnomon can be cropped out, but if it's all that can be done, than it is all that can be done
  17. see, this is more of what i want it to look like, just without the axis markers!
  18. most interesting, this is my results so far, if I render it in shaded mode, the particles work fine, only thing is that shaded mode also renders the axis markers in the bottom left hand corner. If there is some way to get that to go away, then that would work.
  19. oh man, i'm soo close. just one little hitch still in the way
  20. oddly enough, i used to be able to like 2 years ago with V13, but even now, if i try particles with V13, it leaves this residue of sorts. I've been playing with it all afternoon and I'm a little closer, but not much really. I'll keep you all updated though, as this could be a particularly important effect for my new project
  21. Hm, I have never been able to get past this problem, and it's making the emitter 100% transparent with it emitting particles. There must be a solution somewhere though
  22. So, I'm kinda fiddling around with some stuff working on this concept of a project, and what I'm working with is fire, namely my hands on fire. The hand model I'm using is the one that came on the Extras CD, so it doesn't exactly fit my hand, but it helps some, but a real hand model that fits may be in order, but yeah: shot1.mov
  23. ya, i agree, being one of those myself, i was quite discouraged when AM wouldn't work at first, but once all you helpful folks pointed me in the right direction, things got better and AM worked!
  24. if you run into particular issues (ie, a lot of crashing) talk to me, I use the same OS version as you and might be able to help get you past some of the annoyances of 10.5.8
  25. i'm no expert, but you might wanna look into specular decal maps, that might help get the specific shapes you're looking for
