  1. so the depth map bit is something done post render, like you're not bringing this depth map into AM are you?
  2. Happy Birthday man! Enjoy the wisdom that comes with 48 :)

  3. CMD+SHIFT+3 will screen grab and save it to your desktop. The best way for anyone to help you is for you to upload and post the project to the forum, then masters like Rob can go through it and do the incredible work they do
  4. I generally change my suns to klieg lights as you'll then have better options for shadows and the shadows will fall on objects and block out the light, whereas with sun lights, it'll light whatever side is facing the light, no matter what object is in front of it
  5. thanks, I did make her eyes larger though it'll probably be harder to tell in this pic. I'm still strung up on hair but I'll figure it out most likely. I been having some weird issues with the way Ken rigged his female body originally that's causing some weird shape contortions in my model but that's a problem for my next day off.
  6. Here's what I got so far. I used Ken's female body that he donated and did some modifications to it. Kinda stuck about the hair though. I would like for it to have the dynamics of hair, except I can never groom the hair properly
  7. there, this should be somewhat better. Didn't change the eye size yet, but I remember that from reading the tips on comic book females, more cat like looking eyes and lower the eyelids to make them look more seductive EDIT: Posting the pic would be useful, wouldn't it
  8. nah, it's just my inability to model properly. there's no intentional reason on making the eyes too high, it's just something that seems to happen
  9. For kicks, I have decided to try and build Crimson from my comic series, so this is my first female face. She doesn't quite look like the drawing, but hopefully that'll change with hair and textures
  10. wow, just looked up the cast list, it has quite a half decent cast listing, kirk douglas, peter lorre, some pretty good actors! I really will have to find a copy.
  11. I wonder if we still have any rental stores. I'd probably be better to find it on iTunes or something
  12. I'm so excited for the Captain America movie, Cap's been one of my favourites too. The model looks terrific already, and knowing the quality of Iron Man, this should turn out spectacular!
  13. hmm, yes, I think you're right. It's been such a long time since I've seen an unremastered TOS episode that I kinda forget the details
  14. Actually, wasn't the original series ships the one with the horizontal lines on the side of the saucer, and the tiles on the top and bottom?
  15. well, with the remastered TOS series they still used the Aztec texture on the ship, they just darkened it and glossed it up some. It's a good base for any hull pattern really
  16. what are you using for your hull? The typical Star Trek hull texture is called Aztec. Google it and you'll find how to make your own
  17. it's pretty cool to see the greyhalk characters integrated with wannabe. It's a great treat to wake up to in the morning
  18. That is significantly better. I think the dissolve will be that added touch
  19. Ok, to make the movie bit, once all is exported, Right Click on the Images folder in AM, choose Import>Animation/Image Sequence. Choose the first frame and click OK. Then if you right click on the newly imported animation and choose Save Animation As, set it as a MOV or AVI or whatever your preference is, and save it. Now you have the animation file. Could you also screenshot all your render settings. So the Render to File screen, the options for rendering and perhaps even your compression settings. There's something in that that shouldn't be. Perhaps you could also ZIP all the files together and upload it to the forum so some of us can have a look at the project.
  20. you could perhaps even animate a bit of a colour transition too.
  21. ok good, I only accept nifty or spiffy, anything less is a waste of time Anyways, looking very good, I have for some time been tinkering with the decaling of windows on starship hulls and I'm gonna look at Eric's maps some to see how I can improve on ones I use for my ships. I look forward to seeing the rest of this ship re-done!
  22. ...I don't even know how that's possible. I can render several second clips in HD720p and they only equal less than 10MB. What are you rendering to and what are your rendering settings?
  23. I never saw the film, only read the book, but man, that is like exactly how I see the ship when I read it. Utterly astounding, terrific work, wouldn't expect anything less of you
  24. yeah, there ya go! That's one of the beautiful things of AM, you can make carves and whatnot, and have a really low patch count, whereas with poly modeling, you need to increase your poly count to make smoother edges and stuff.
  25. yeah, I don't even know if one of Al's super detailed models has that many patches!
