Nice. It reminds me of the cover of an other 3D application.... -
Feb 07 contest entry in Stereo Vision
Luuk Steitner replied to nf1nk's topic in Work In Progress / Sweatbox
I finally found out why my computer was shutting down all the time; My CPU was overheating. I removed the dust from the heat sink, added an extra fan and moved my printer because it was blocking one of the air inlets And now it does render without any problem, so I rendered out a larger version: -

Well, I was able to do the stereo render in a lower resolution without crashing my computer. I believe there used to be a "stereoscopic" section in the forums, but I can't find it. Doesn't it exist anymore? I'll post mine here too. comments are welcome -

Yep, that's what I did. It does render but my computer shuts down for a reason I don't understand. I was able to do a 1 pass multi-pass render, but the quality of that one isn't good enough to post. By the way, thanks to all who voted. All the entries where very good. -

I was trying to render a stereo version of my entry but it is not working as I had hoped. When I do multi-pass renders the image is black. When I do single-pass renders my computer shuts down when it's almost finished Maybe if anyone know how I can solve this I'll post a stereo render.... -
Robotic character walk cycle

Are you sure that link is correct? I don't see an animation like you describe. -
When you apply a texture to a sphere set the 'application method' to spherical, if you use a cylinder set it to cylindrical. This option is only visible when you have started to position your decal. When you need to do the render in high resolution make sure you sky is high res too, infinite resizing won't make it look better. I never light my skies. I make the sphere that large that it isn't affected by any lights. Use the 'ambient' setting of the sphere's surface to set the brightness. This way the sky will look the same as the picture in every direction.

What Caroline is talking about are sky-light rigs and not what you mean - I guess. I have made sky domes before which are image or video textures applied as decal to a large sphere. If the camera never looks up it's also possible to use a cylinder for the sky. For the dome version I always use a program which is able to generate this images that can be applied to the sphere. You will need something like that to get it done. I can not tell th enames of those programs I use for that here since that's not allowed on this forum. You can also take some pictures and use a paint program to make it suit your decal. In this case the cylindrical version is much easier to make. Good luck with it! P.S. if it isn't working out for you I'm willing to make a sky texture for you.

The A:M title bar you show says AM2006. Anyways, the dual core support is only from V14, which is still in alpha at the moment.

Maybe it's your video card. Check out this topic: http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=26179

that's a nice model! It looks like he could use some more hair on his left arm and right shoulder, or is that deliberate?

PLEASE help with making this thing key transparency!!
Luuk Steitner replied to detbear's topic in New Users
Just switch on "show more then drivers" in the chor-pws. That's the tree-view icon right next to the object name with the red cross trough it. When you enable that the groups will become accessible for keyframing. -
That's a nice house Niels. Are you participating in the architectural contest?

Did you send a bug report yet? Lots of A:M users including me are having this problem. It can be caused by many things. You can try to get rid of the artifact by experimenting with material settings like bump and reflection. Sometimes that helps.
-
If you want to align cp's to the Y axis in modeling mode you can also just select those points, set the Y-pivot value to 0 and then with transform scale the y to 0%.

one word: Super!

What's the size of your model and scale in the choreography? I'm not sure, but one thing I noticed having this problem is that in only occurred (in my case) when an object / matrial scale gets to small. An other thing you can try is to create a new material; extern, in the materials folder in the pws and link it to your surface. Delete the old material. That worked for me once.

That's very cool! Did you know Citroën has commercials with transformer cars? When I saw them I wanted to make something like that too, but I never did because I didn't have time. For those interested in the Citroën video's: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZADtTq0SMo

Can you post the material settings of the surface on which the black dots show? I have had a problem like that when I created complex materials with very small scaled bump. There where black and red dots showing in multipass render, but not from every angle. One time I created a material like that and the whole surface and some pixels around it turned black. I was kinda busy back then so I didn't report it. Maybe it is time for a report now.

That is a good looking character. Are you planning to make an animation of it? I would like to see that!
