  1. the tough part was cutting it down to be just the length of my shot. But it helped to actually write out a script, then when I narrated I adlibbed off the script so it didn't sound too much like reading.
  2. That extra height helps. When I saw the ac unit I wondered about the thickness of the roof/ceiling. The added height remedies that.
  3. I can't help but notice that everyone decorates eggs, but no one ever decorates bacon!
  4. I agree, I think a cooperative forum project would be preferable to a contest with winners and losers. I thought the bus stop worked well and, time permitting, I'd participate again. Just working within constraints set by others was good practice.

    TSM Rigger

Well, that was it, it doesn't work properly in the RC v.16. It's not like we didn't know this day was coming! Looks like I'll need to learn another rig.

Well that's a clue right there. I was pretty sure I'd run it in the beta and it worked just fine. But I'm using the RC version now.

Thanks Robert but you don't need to worry about this. It *appears* to be fine but I'm going back to finish up some cp weighting before I finalize the rigging. I had left a lot undone on this model.

Okay, here it is zipped up. Ignore the cp assignments in the skirt, that will be a cloth material later. EDIT: Rigger ran fine in v.15. I haven't tested it yet, but it ran and completed. Cicakwoman_Rigged.zip

I installed the bones in a model using The Setup Machine awhile ago, added some cogs and CP weighting and ran Flipper, then put the model aside to work on some other things. Now when I go back to the model and go to run Rigger, I get an error that says "No systems found". This is a new one. I'm doing this on the PC. Any suggestions? I can post the model if that's any help.
  10. It's looking pretty nice, Steve. I would say that the chair seats seem low relative to the table tops.

Oh well, yeah, there is that.

Wow, I'm amazed you picked up on that, Nancy! I did use the palette from "The Scream", and possibly the style of the clouds when I did the sketch for this. haven't thought about it for awhile though.

the suggestion of a gradient for the water is a good one Holmes. As for what effect I'm ultimately going for, I'll know it when I see it! I want this whole thing to look as hand drawn/hand painted as possible but I don't have a straightforward formula for getting there. It's mostly a lot of experimentation.
  14. Great find Mark! At last, a use for the App Store!

Here's a test I mentioned in another thread about this water effect. I gave the ground plane some roughness and reflectivity, and then just moved it sideways through the shot. I may move it a little slower, but it works great for my purposes. Bridge_testshot_h264.mov
  16. Nice tests! I just did a shot for my music video and got a really nice water effect just by giving a ground plane roughness and reflectivity, and then moving the ground plane left to right. I'll try to post it later today.
  17. Wow, thanks everyone! I took yesterday and today off so I'm just laying around relaxing. Vicki threw me a huge surprise bash at our local pub on Monday night. I was totally surprised, didn't suspect a thing! Then last night we saw "That Championship Season" on B'way, which has a brilliant cast (Keifer Sutherland, Chris Noth, Jim Gaffigan and Jason Patric) and today, just basking in the afterglow. Vicki also made a video that she had wanted to have playing on the big TV's in the pub, but she only got it so far and couldn't figure out how to burn a dvd, so it didn't get played at the party unfortunately. But we did post it on YouTube, at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O9WvpsylRmg So I did get it burned to dvd for her after the fact, and I'm burning discs to send out to the party guests as a thank you note!
  18. Not at all Nancy! It was just the way it took a turn into a discussion of fonts. As for your comments, I think I'm going to get all my storyboard samples together and see what it looks like, got some opinions on what I've got, and go forward. I've been fixated on looking for another job in the legal field since that's what I've been doing, but I believe I should look for work based on my skills rather than my work history. I feel like I'd be limiting myself otherwise.
  19. This is all dazzling! Great testing everyone!
  20. Count me in. I did a bouncing ball back about 10 years ago when I learned another app, but never done one in A:M.
