  1. Stian, In Showcase, we are not supposed to show what we can do with our digital cameras... This picture belongs on a photog. forum somewhere. Here, we're only supposed to showcase what we model in A:M... Okay, maybe it's not quite that good... but it's close. The additional yellow radiance in the wood could easily be 'splained by a poor photog having to use clamp on incandescent lights with alum (spun) shades... The wood is close enough to the real thing... with a wax finish instead of varnish. The reflections off the edges of the boxes onto the wood are the only telltales I would "see" without picking it apart. I believe you could post this on ebay and 99% of people would believe you are showing a real model... Now I've got to plan on another year upgrade of A:M to get this in the tutes... with all the data... Very nice. I only hope I can do as well... ½ as well would be goodenuf!
  2. Well, She's a great model... It's just too bad I couldn't get her delivered to me in time... lost the contract, shucks.... I tried substituting inflatable love dolls but the guys in the pinstripe suits booted me and the dolls out on our collective keesters... and threatened to get out the "violins" if we ever showed up at the strip club again... ah well, It's so hard to get good talent nowadays... great job modleing Patrick... She's so...ah... real...
  3. Lamont, Yes, EVERY time! It's the copyright protedtion... but you don't have ot leave it in. There is another option... the dongle version which has a HASP dongle to go into a USB port, it also allows you to have a small render farm of up to (I think) 3 PCs rendering at once. or an unlimited renderfamrm version for some more money. Reading your other posts about your experience... It may help you to do the excercises... they are brief (for the most part) and I'm sure most will be easy for you... but you are learning a new system. That is not only spline based, but animation based as well.. spline patches are more "organic animation friendly" than polys in my experience. And though most of the 3D programs have evolved over the years, I still like A:M the best... And though I started using A:M a decade ago, I''m doing the excercises to get into the new systems... I look forward to your posts of the excercises and there's nothing to stop you from working on your own projects at the same time... I'm too wordy... and I've got to start getting with the program... Good luck and welcome to the best all around software for 3D. (Sorry Rodney) I know you're out, and thought I'd try to answer the question...
  4. How apropos... My 200th post is going into the "Welcome new users" forum.... So, here I am... a new user... though "user anew" might be more correct... After all, I've been a firm believer in and occasional user of this product for around ten years... I just haven't upgraded since version 5... But now, I got my new software (ver11.1) which I'll be upgrading on line to 12 + after I finish TAO A:M excercises! I look forward to renewing my relationship with the program, and strengthening my relationship with all of the wonderful people in this community. Here we go!
  5. Exceeding 1 MB? You may have to zip it... Just trying to help...
  6. jin, That is looking really good! keep it up!
  7. lookin much better larry... keep it up!
  8. looks almost like the old kinetoscopes... interesting... a bit fast, but interesting stoboscopic effect kinda...
  9. All this progress "from zero to 120" in a month and ten days! First post June 7... last post today! Wow! Fantastic.... I hope I do 1/10th as well.... wow! wow!
  10. actually I'm really liking the helmet now... even though the decals merge/mirror on the top... it looks kinda cool that way... and I noticed the reflection on its' right horn tip... like it's been polished, just in case he has to use it as a weapon of last resort... I like it... I know nothing about hair... but the horses mane is looking good if a bit dreadlocky... and I can see through the horses head.. that's eerie! keep 'em coming... Charlie
  11. I like him... but shoudn't he have some transparency? like to see him animated... I know that's next.... want to feel something from him.... just thoughts... but I do like him
  12. Great Scott! I finally have a reason to use that cliche! It is great, isn't it?.. you can still model away and learn and fix the block and carry on... Tha'ts what's so cool about this forum community... the answers are ALL here or at the very least pointed to... I like your modelling so far, keep it up! And the "masters" make it all look sooooo easy, to don't they?
  13. RE: GAIL MO DELS PLEASE EX PED ITE ORDER STOP BOO KINGS CONFIRMED STOP HOW S OON STOP O C END Just looking for updates!
  14. Scott, your helmet reminded me of a Tute I was pointed to by Jandals... UV tute And I see some stretching on your horn.. This is not a critique, believe me... I can't do near as well... but I thought you might be interested in the tute since you mentioned having difficulty pasting decals on a curved horn... Keep it up... great stuff!
  15. looks kinda like a biker chick... need more resolution to offer any crit... I do know this... at least she has no spatula in her jeans! And big thanks for linking to the tute... All the books had all these "stamps" in them with all the details for even huge creatures on one graphic and I couldn't figure out why.... Now I UNDERSTAND how convenient that is... Charlie
  16. Julian, Thanks for your effort on this... and now giving to the community... I'm glad I don't have "brain worms*" like this to keep me up late at night working on extracurricular projects. *brain worms are usually snippets of song that get stuck in your head... and you can't easily rid yourself of the "noise" the most common "cure" is to sing the verse you "hear" repeated... (there really have been studies on this) In this case I attributed them to a programming problem that would keep niggling at you until solved... boy am I glad I don't have THAT! Thanks again, Julian! Charlie
  17. I've actually done this! Well, me and another guy... big ol' steel desk... 7 stories up! It's just a little more fun than the clip! boy his left ankle sure does bend the foot into "hyper" flexion... but he's a super hero... He can do that. Hey Mike(y) I like it!
  18. Oh...the humanity! Those poor folks on the street!
  19. She's lookin' great! But you tore her left boot to give me something to critique, right? Okay, I don't know how much she weighs... but if shipping costs aren't too high... I would take 2 or three... I think I can book them in a local club... and if they don't talk yet, ah heck that's okay... they don't need to talk, long as they can move... the right way... Now see here? you've got me thinking of that citibank ad about the guy building his prom date... "its a Girl robot! he he he..."
  20. pssssst, Vern!? Bruce Wayne invented the Zipper! Where do you think he got all his money? Butter indeed that's a scary thought... And Batman is s'posed to be getting away from "camp" in the current version. But your ahem thoughts... gave me a chuckle! As for your Batman, Starving... I dunno if you need to fix the arms or not... after all, those eyes...
  21. I'm impressed with the grid, and understand it was alot of work... I don't dislike it, just telling you what I thought it reminded me of. Anything that uses Alien as inspiration is sacro sanct.. works for me! Cool! temporary lights in the tube under construction... ! all that's missing is the yellow cable between bulbs and little plastic cages around 'em! Now I really like it! About the rifle: the trigger... does the alien use his whole paw/mit/hand to squeeze it? is it rheostatically controlled? The harder he squeezes, the bigger the bullet/beam/stream of slime that comes out... Or how does he get leverage on the trigger? no hand hold... Just impressions/questions not really critiquing.... Keep up the good work... oh, and this is a crit... well, sorta... the canyon looks like paper crumpled, kinda
  22. he77, I'll forget about the funny looking thing she swallowed (mentioned earlier)!!!! whooda thunk about seams? Verry cool! If she has enough of 'em she could do a "stand up" routine and unzip all her seams, makin a zzzzzip sound! (showing my age, but it was funny back when!) neat stuff, pjc ...lookin' forward to more! Charlie
  23. Ouch! I hurt myself trying that second one, doc... Better send me to PT...! I know, it's just quick and dirty And I actually got alot of insight into fan bones (and cogs?) from those two little shorts... bjorn, I can see where a plugin for this type of stuff would be quite handy. Hope you get throught the math! Charlie
  24. You are already close to "very detailed"! Nice work! Can I sit in the left seat?
  25. I like the tunnel, the grating on the floor looks realistic, though "dated" for a space station (looks like the steel grating used in meat department floors)... The walls of the tunnel seem organic... or indicate movement as on a moving belt by the streakiness of the walls. I like how the lights don't line up perfectly... but the bulbs seem too current day for sci-fi future. The gun... needs to be lit up to see it better... but l like the effect of the power indicator. just my opinions... if you're just getting started... they are fantastic.!
