  1. Hey Mike! Looks great! Don't change a thing!
  2. Probably not... somebody else was having difficulty with many decals on one large patch. But nothing stops you from trying.... Texturing is, or seems to be, an arduous process. for photorealism, many techniques have been developed to make things look real... They all require decals with lots of layers, however. I'm afraid that texture decaling is not an easy thing to do, and not something easily automated with a wizard.
  3. Cute characters! They'll make a neat buddy flick!
  4. I have to agree with Steve... While I like the head with the glowing eyes, this is the "feeling" I get when looking at the corridor. Beautifully finished basement! So this is the entrance to your Home Theater? Awesome! Musta cost you a bundle! Restroom's there on the right? Okay, thanks! You did a beautiful job on this, who was your stone mason? Sorry, that's just the feel I get here... I know you're going to add stuff. A plastic rat here, a rubber bat there, maybe a resin skull. It's just way too clean, orderly, architectual. Now that's not to say that that clean architectual look can't be hiding some very nasty stuff... But then I start thinking it's a set for a S&M shoot... So, you're not "getting me" with this one. I'm sorry, the work you've done here is very nice. It's just too nice! YMMV
  5. I'm pretty sure the duplicator wizard is just for duplicating splinage. Not decals. suggest you look at the FW 190 (airplane) tutorial in TAO A:M "Image" lets you load an image by selecting it and right clicking... but you can also right click in the modeling window and scroll down to "new" where you can select rotoscope or decal. I don't think you can apply a texture map to a complex group of shapes as you are wanting to do. You still have to select the points you want to decal, hide the rest, and stamp your decal. you can then determine the type of decal it is bump, cookie cut, etc.
  6. Just the tab? Hey! I meant... [attachmentid=14910] Surely, this Hot Rod has a Harmonic balancer with the degrees marked out on it... (all of them degrees.. not just the ones needed for timing...) "Bwahhhahhahahah!" Said the evil taskmaster rubbing his hands together and making the modeler sweat ALL the details! Oh, and thanks for the reply in the macro thread... I replied to it, too.
  7. Dhar is absolutely right... (are we a mutual admiration society, or what?) and I think there's some text on those wires, too! Yes they need to be resized because they're so obvious... but at some point, all the wiring covers, looms and insulation and Ac compressors, and PS pumps, and and and... will cover up an awful lot! And then, Bada Bing... everybody's baffled with BS! And, you look like a genius! It's hard to believe doing this modeling stuff can be so much fun.... even when it's dealing with the nits picked!
  8. Scott, I think you're doin FAN FREAKIN TASTIC! And the level of detail is great... Good on you for keeping spline count low... I gotta say this is really looking good! Yeah, the wires might be a bit thin... but at a certain level of detail, you gotta quit looking for the little errors... See, here's my theory, if you throw a ton of detail in there... there's just so much to look at.. you don't notice the little things (kinda like the old high school days and those essays... If you can't dazzle 'em with brilliance... baffle 'em with BS!) It's kinda like that Kimble above... See, he's got the valve train all wrong on the right side of the motor ("passenger" side). Of course, you wouldn't know that... 'cause the right side isn't transparent... He's coverin' up!... Just take my word...
  9. Thanks... I'll try that... It makes sense and wont hurt anything even if it moves it all down to the zero line
  10. Is there a way to assure that all cps are in one plane without making them snap to grid in all axes? In other words, if I have a rounded rectangle that I want all cps to be on the same plane without moving the corner points to a different location on the xz plane but I wanted them all to rest on the plane (because one or more cps is slightly offset in the y axis). Is it possible to bring that/those points to the same xz plane as the others without it moving in x or z axis, only the y axis. Man, this is hard to describe... the xz plane is a flat plane... like the ground (but ABOVE AND parallel to it). All the cps are where I want them in each axis EXCEPT y... I want to bring them down to the xz PLANE but not move in x or z axis. Anyway, is there a way to do that?
  11. Thom is green blooded? and blue brained? JCV> I did not know that! "Call us on the studio line to request your favorite effect" 1- 800 BLOBBYS, or email your request for next weeks show! WWW.blobbies.com!"
  12. Yeah, well... To heck with you! It looks goodenuf to me.... But if you would take just a little bit more time with each of your tests... the rest of us might catch up one day! Say, oh, about 22 minutes instead of just 20... at your rate of proliferation that would prolly be, like, 20 extra hours a quarter.. and then we could work 24 hours a day and be "in the running in" ... about 5 years... Looks good Mike... his fingers go through the table a bit and they flex bakwards when he's airborne instead of as he pushes off. But I have to frame step it to see it... It really shows pretty darned well! I hope I can do as well someday.
  13. Scott, It's looking great... Would white specularity help the lights? On the cones in the back, not on the lenses. In V12 I'm getting a washed out look (overexposure) with the default chor... I'm tweaking that still... your V12 render is really looking great, the chrome and paint are beautiful. As to not catching the grill... I can't count! Much better match on the chrome strip on the hood lip... and the slight difference makes it believable. That's the thing with "concours" cars... they're too pretty... they have to be trailer queens in order t keep up their appearance. Me, I'd rather have a driver anyday... And this Chevy's a DRIVER of the first order!
  14. Stian's going to Hash Bash? damn! wish i could! next year maybe. Nice design dimos, I really like the character... Stian... Just stop man, you're too good! when they finally figure out how to make replicators, Stian is going to create the "molecular models", I think!
  15. probably the work in progress open for crtiques forum. I fyou've not posted there, you may not be able to until you have a couple of posts... I dunno for sure... But, be forwarned... those guys will pick it apart... only creatures meaner than a mouth creature are members of cgtalk!
  16. looks good! Thanks for fixing the frame! When you do the tweaked render , don't post it over on cg talk... post it on ebay... somebody will buy that chess set! (It looks real enough!)
  17. great work Stian! quality and quantity no doubt... I hope you can get paid for the work you do... Your skills arre very good! very nice!
  18. he he... I liked it!
  19. Are you kiddin' me???!!! I can't model that good yet! Honest! But you are sooo close, I figgured it'd be easy for you to tweak here and there! Permission granted to pick apart my next post... I'm workin on it now. Not something as pretty as a car.. you have to understand I started with an exhaust fan and a hat... So don't expect much!
  20. If you haven't posted him on cg talk.. I think you oughta... He is one scary creture... the walk is a bit fast but... if he "smells/senses" food he might be in a hurry. It'd be funny if at the end of his walk he got to his bowl of kibbles and bits!
  21. Z, This question has little to do with nothin... but when I looked at the last pose I noticed.. first thing... Well, women seem to have an ability to get into clothes that don't seem to fit until they get them on jeans & bracelets come to mind. Then I look at her boots: The foot of the boot appears so much bigger than the ankle... and I'm sure she can point her toes and all that, but well... she's gonna have a real hard time getting those boots on ... and if she happens to be well, you know, "retaining fluids"... I don't think it will happen at all... Unless those seams on the sides are actually zippers... Just thinking out loud.
  22. Mark, looks good this way too... only one crit: The grain in the circled area, and on that piece of the frame should go legthwise (as well as on the opposite frame piece). [attachmentid=14796] sorry, that's just the way it is. Otherwise it's beautiful and believable.
  23. I'm shiverin! Hot DAMN indeed! Seems you've got the effect down cold! It certainly does look nice!
  24. yes, "Queen on her own color." But I REALLY like the wood textures you used, how did you accomplish those?
  25. yeah, darker grn pants "okay" try it. or maybe no pants? The green and the blue... I just don't think they're so good together... maybe it's cause they have the same tonal value... green and red compliment... but then she'd be a Christmas warrior... Need a complimentary color wheel.. to be sure what "goes with" the blue..
