I'm about 80% done. Playing with paint right now. Soooo, go ahead and hit me with some paint Oh, and no, there was no implication that the paint is too reflective. I really like it.

What about doing some water with that? -
Colin's tutorials on the web are great: http://www.colins-loft.net/new_coop_tutorial/CoopFace.html The comment on the pic "flesh this out some more" is meant for the circle around the ear lobe. The circle is not supposed to be an earring, lol. Some pointers below Great work so far. Eric

Dan, The second pic is a little messed up. That's just a quick render, right? What did you do to Colin's paint, just change the image map for the HDRI? A side by side render of before and after would really be telling. Jeez, you could almost dive into that first pic, its' so reflective, like water Great stuff.

I actually have ulterior motives for giving a hand: It gives me that warm fuzzy feeling all over

Ok, I don't know what you all are getting so excited about, here I am spending countless hours trying to get the bumps out of my mesh and you guys are falling all over yourselves about being able to get a ton more bumps per patch. In case I have to clarify before anyone gets upset: I'M KIDDING That last example says it all. Totally awesome.

Hey, for that, you get my latest sneak peek Ok, that was just a peek

That looks like it would be hard to pass -
Is that the sequel to Girls gone Wild?

Very nice Dan, that ought to do it. What screencap prog did you use?

Dan, you and Matt are paving the way for me to get a perfect paintjob on my Saleen. Been taken a small break from that one, but this time you are making me go back to it Can't wait to see a render of the Retro with the HDRI stuff.

Done it too many times - Go to ATI's site and click on "Drivers and software" It will ask you for your operating system - choose it. Then choose which type of card you have - "Radeon". Next, choose "Catalyst 5.13...driver download." Follow the notes on the next page carefully. Download and install the "Catalyst Uninstaller." Also make sure you have Microsoft.NET Framework and Windows Service Pack 2 installed before installing the new drivers. Anyways, just follow the direction on that page and you should be good to go. Lot's of luck Cheers Eric

Wow, add some color, some sprites for water spray, and I'll get my kayak...Woohoo

My P4 used to have 512kof ram with an ATI 9600 and did not experience the problems you describe. I tend to agree with Sandgroper that ATI products have had their share of trouble with drivers and it can be a toss-up to see if the new drivers would fix the issues. In any case, though, be sure you do get the latest drivers and be sure you also completely uninstall the existing drivers before installing the new ones. Getting more RAM will help you with having multiple apps open, but it doesn't seem to do a whole heck of a lot with improving the running of AM in particular. Many computers will have apps or utilities running in the background when windows starts. I like to disable most if not all before going into an AM session. The more you eliminate, the fewer problems. When I did upgrade to 1.5GB of ram, I didn't worry about this so much, although it's now just a habbit. Photoshop is now running concurrently most of the time. My experience with V.12.0.p of AM has been very pleasant. This version of AM seems to be much more stable than previous, although I did not find the same satisfaction with V.12.0.q. On another thought, I have had my share of bad ram and can tell you it might be a good idea to get your ram checked. Bad ram can give you all sorts of weird problems that are very difficult to diagnose and are usually quite random. When I upgraded my ram, I removed my 512kb first, installed and ran the new ram, just to be sure everything was good with the new. Once I ran it for a week and found all well, I added the old ram for a total of 1.5GB. Some more points to consider: Is your cache on your hard drive adequate? What I mean is, is your hard drive full, or does it have at least 10% free space? Are you always connected to the internet? If so, and even if not, do you have a regular, at least onece a week, virus check and spyware removal utility running? Do you regularly delete your temp folders to free up resources? Do you regularly check and clean your trash can? You do know that deleted programs are still in your trash can and take up memory and resources? I also clear my internet files including offline content at least once a week. Explorer gobbles up resources like a sponge and will bog down your system, especially with little ram. Another biggie is the cookie jar. Spyware is often hiding in there and will slow down your machine too. I know that when you clear your cookies, all your log-on info for cookie dependent apps and websites apps will have to be typed in all over again when you log on, but that's a small price to pay for a healthy computer. This is probably more info than you need, but I have found that doing all these things really help eliminate most of the problems I have encountered over the years. Hope some of it helps you. Cheers Eric

Very nice start for a newbie. You didn't specify where the problem areas are. Post another pic with the areas circled. The ear and area between the brows has alot of patches. You could use some deletions there and some hooks to cut down the geometry. Zooming in close to your problem areas with the bias handles visible will give you a good idea of how the splines are situated on the mesh. From there it's a matter of tweaking and experimenting. Again, great job so far.

That did it. Thanks, that's good to know about decals in the future.

I made a simple decal in photoshop with an alpha channel to be used as a cookie cut in AM. Once pasted and applied as cookie cut, the decals does it's job, but the patches that lie withing the edges of the decal do not render. I'm sure there is a very simple explanation and fix, but I'm not an expert on decals, sooooo...anyone?

Slipin, when you get TSM2 to work the way it's supposed to, post a long blog on how you did it, cause I'm still trying to figure it out. "Certainly to my mind they could do a more informative video. Why don't they go through the whole process properly, and show how they smart skin their character instead of saying "we'll just choose auto assign so you get the idea..." Deja Vu... Don't mean to stir the pot, but there are very valid points on both sides of the issue

Stian, I always feel like crying when I see your work. Here I am in the corner of my room playing with my Romper Room building blocks while you are finishing the Taj Mahal. There is absolutely nothing I could criticize about your model, perfection from what I can see. Awesome job. All right, you've done it now Stian - I'm gonna lock myself in a closet and finish the Saleen if it kills me Wireframe please Eric

Did you post a WIP on this creature a long time ago? I seem to remember a similar one eyed creature waaaaayyyy back in time?

Hey, I like it a lot. Reminds me of Gollum. Nice job, wish I could do that
