  1. A common thread, for a fleeting moment, breaks down all barriers and brings us closer to Peace on Earth and Good Will to All.
  2. I like a lesser amount of reflectivity, but I don't like the way the whole blade looks darker now. There's gotta be a way to turn down the reflectivity and still keep the blade looking like it's in a spotlight. The last render looks like the blade is in a shadow zone.
  3. Hey Dan: Congrats on your finals and a Merry Christmas to you and your family. Damn, dude that knife looks like it just came out of a ancient dig site, got cleaned up and displayed in a museum. Excellent work
  4. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all
  5. John, with your fantstic ideas and special effects knack, a complete animation of yours would be a very special treat indeed. Hope someday we may all enjoy the fruits of your labor.
  6. I couldn't stop laughing....poor thingy that seems to be injured and brain damaged running around in a circle.
  7. Wow, another effet for my Nautilus. Looks great!
  8. Thanks for the info...I was wondering how it compared to the B-52. That plane look gigantic. Your model does a good job to convey size.
  9. I'm not familiar with that plane. What are those three bumps on each wing, some kind of air intake? In any case, should those bumps contine to the top of the wings?
  10. Wow, can't wait to see that lionfish with decals/textures. Lookin good.
  11. I guess, by now, some members may know that I'm a stickler for details - just look at my Saleen car WIP for months and months I love your bottle, but the sharp contrast between the bottle cap and the wood base is buggin me. The wood is very blurry and the cap is very sharply defined.
  12. You just started working on the gorilla a night ago? Yeez, lay off the caffeen, will ya? Very nice. The link to animation does not work. I assume we'll get to see that once the project moves along? Nice sketches.
  13. I think your problem is in step three. When you deleted the top cp's and got a circle, it was on the horizontal plane. In the front view you will only see a line. Select that line / key and in the PWS under the tranform/rotate, enter 90 in the x value. You should now see the circle in the front view. Here is where yo are getting double cps - you must first delete half of the circle before you lathe. Once you have a figure like the one in the pic, select all, shift select a cp on the center, hit R, move the manipulator just off center to the outside and lathe. Voila, perfect sphere without double cps. Hope I'm understanding your problem correctly. If I'm way off, ooops and never mind :-) Maybe this is also helpful, I love the stuff yo can make with it quickly: http://www.sgross.com/plugins/plugin1/index_e.html
  14. All right, James...just sit back, relax and take your fingers off the keyboard. Ok, now tell me what's going on with the lathe thingy?
  15. The grille is a cookie cutter decal test. The weird thing is that in the modeling window it works as a cookie cutter, but when I render in the Chor, it doesn't render as a cookie cut. Strange. I am very happy; what better compliment is there than "AWESOMEFULNESS!!" Thanks Dan. She still has a long way to go, but I am chipping away at her every night.
  16. Thanks James: A little support goes a long way when your eyes are ready to fall out due to major tweakin Nah, didn't sound bad at all
  17. This is very tedious work. Tweaking one part of the model affects other parts of the model and round and round we go. Gonna get it perfect, gonna, gonna, gonna!
  18. Just got V.12 and will play around with normal maps, etc. The model is pretty much completed, just gotta get the textures and decals right.
  19. It looks better every time you post a render. I just got AM 2006 with the option to apply a decal as a normal map. Gonna play around with that. My avatar is a sketch of a T-rex I am also working on - on and off. Gotta learn how to flatten and apply decals, etc. Also posting an update on my Saleen. Working on AM stuff as time permits. Dan, hope all your finals went the way you expected or better Eric
  20. I really like the swirley mist, even better than the face that appears. Could you make a vague image of a face with just the mist?
  21. Every beginning is an end, and every end is a new beginning.
  22. Hey, I like your hovering rod. I know you already mentioned it, but those headlight a gotta go. They look like someone stole the lights off of a VW bug and stuck em on your spacecraft.
  23. Yeah, I got tired of using my mouse as a drawing tool, so I drew the dino by hand and scanned the pic into Photoshop. Once there, I started to soften the pencil lines using the blur tool - still got a long way to go. I also added different color layers that I am still tweaking with. This was just an idea I came up with, but it worked remarkably well. Will keep posting.
  24. You've just exposed how sick my girlfriend and I really are. Both of us just busted up laughing. Thanks for the good cheer
  25. Since I am still waiting for my AM 2006 disk (my V.11 was damaged) I had some spare time to devote to my T-rex model. I decided to try my hand at creating a head decal image. Here is what I've got so far. Please critique freely.
