  1. Here is the version with smoke. http://www.dustinproductions.com/files/coggins-w-smoke.m1v The smoke/particles was/were a pain to get right. I'll probably need to eliminate the smoke due to the difficulties with it. David
  2. Nancy, It's a standard blue from the color picker with just some low specularity, but you're right, I should tweak it. It's really not going to matter too much as the blue truck gets almost completely destroyed. I haven't run into it (being too realistic) yet, but it could happen. My client wants me to shoot video driving down the road, then place a virtual camera in the cab of the blue truck. I'll use the live action method to provide an up close and personal view of the semi grill. Bruce, The driver of the blue truck was caught completely off guard, and was badly injured. I'm going to interview him next week to get more info as to the direction of his spin, that's why the blue truck's movements are non-descript at this point. MIchael, I'm working on a version with smoke. I have to render that segment all on 1 machine as NR has particle issues. David
  3. The description pretty much says what I used. It's far from finished, as the blue truck needs to be heavily damaged and I need to interview the driver (blue truck) to sind out which way his vehicle spun. Image as a roto for camera. Yves' light rig, Explode and Newton plugin from yoda64. Had smoke in it but it didn't work out (NR problems). Here is a link to the file (about 4 mb). http://www.dustinproductions.com/files/coggins-k.m1v David
  4. Attached is a 3ds prop of an airfield. It's a millitary type airfield, I think. David airfield.zip
  5. Very very nice! The music has a haunting quality about it. There are always things you COULD tweak. Great job!! David
  6. WOW B-36, in truespace, ouch. I think AM will do a much better job on it, and I'm not a huge fan of Mechanical Modeling in AM. David
  7. Greg, Congratulations on completing your project. David
  8. He had 2 broken ribs, so his air supply would have been compromised. The pathologist (phd something... something...) gave me the time frame . Hitting glass (anything actually) underwater is difficult because of the drag from the water. I asked my client if they wanted me to make him more frantic, and they indicated they would use it as it was. They may change their minds if the case goes before a jury (most times these things are settled in mediation or before). Thanks for the constructive criticisms, that's what I was looking for (otherwise I wouldn't have posted it). David
  9. I emailed the clip to my client, who responded Sunday Night. He said the animation is fine, and while it could communicate the urgency better, it gets the idea across. David
  10. Thanks for the suggestions. I agree he should have been more frantic, but have struggled with how to achieve that. An expert indicated the cab would have flooded from 1/2 to 1 second. The side windows were intact. The only reason we can surmise as to why he didn't unbelt himself was because he was pinned with the steering wheel and the dash (firewall actually had to be pulled away by a crane to extricate him). His right leg had a compound fracture as a result of the firewall. it occupied his focus I would think. I think the portion where he's hitting the steering wheel needs some improvement. My client has yet to review this so when they do, I'll let them tell me if they want changes. If you have suggestions on what else I can have him do, let me know. I plan on having his arms float more, if I need to make any more revisions. David
  11. Here is a link to a clip for a case I'm working on. This truck driver was pinned in his truck and drown in the process. The pathologist indicated he lived 30 - 60 seconds. Bubbles are all sprites with negative values for gravity The clip is 55 seconds and 10 Mb. I was at a loss as to what to have the poor fellow do for 55 seconds. Drowning Clip David
  12. Gerry, I replied via your earthlink email. David
  13. Gerry, My render farm is available and I'm willing to help you out. I have an engagement on Thursday all day. 1. What are the render issues you're having. 2. How large are the files and can you zip them into one file for uploading or email? Email me at ddustin@dustinproductions.com if you like. David
  14. I checked the DragonCon website and it lists Hash as an exhibitor. David EDIT: Booth 201 according to online information
  15. The Bike chain project is excellent!! Well done!! David
  16. Michael, Excellent work!! Any chance of getting my hands on the finished model (we can trade models or I can buy it out right)? I love detailed mechanical models. Keep up the great work. David

Very nice modeling! I think she looks like 99 from the Get Smart series in the 1960's, particularly the shots of her with shoulder length hair. Perhaps you could put her in 60's era clothes. David
  18. You are going to need to be aware of the file sizes/patch count for a city this large. It would be great to have images from real buildings, then decal them onto the models. It might be a trade off between large image decals, and High patch count. I love the idea of the city and the different models. I can offer a central location of storage ( I would need to figure out the anonymous, ftp thing), on one of my web sites. David
  19. Robert, Can you list the "free" polygonal packages you use? There are so many vehicles available in 3ds format that could be used. The hangup has always been, to get the wheels to rotate etc. Would you be interested in converting models for use in AM? Thanks, David
  20. Congratulations Jin!! The forum is here for you if you need help!! David
  21. It seems obligatory to comment on the Atlanta users group. There is truly a wealth of knowledge in this bunch of geeks (affectionate connotation). Time passed very quickly as we learned from each other, and brain stormed over different methods and solutions. My 15 year old son was able to join us, and was completely blown away by the level of skill in the group. David
  22. Wade, Cartersville is only about 15 minutes from my house. Have a good time! David
  23. Jake, Very nice work! It does, looks a little dark for a showroom. Most showrooms are well lit. David
