  1. I agree with the costume, that is looking better also the pirates blackhat.

The pale skin of Henrietta was great, a bit evil, a bit sophisticated, aristocratic like lady of that period, which avoided the sun,

though it might not be realistic taking her profession in acount.

Change is a normal development. I do agree and I don´T want to discourage you in that, just sharing my opinion, what I

    personally would prefer.

Keep up your great work. Overall I am a big fan of your style1

    cheers Jake

  2. Hi Mark,

Im afraid, i dont like that new style too much.

Especially Lady Henriettas face is going somehow from classy to bimbo,

A bit like Meg Ryan after surgery crudley said blown lips and too much suntan.

Theres some danger you might loose your great simplicity, reduction and clearness

I always loved on your style , also on the dr. For instance.

Sorry , but thats just my personal taste.

Instead of adding textures I would love your style with Maxwell like material rendering improvements...

Though thats hardly possible for the time being.

    All the best

    Jake

  3. Hi Rusty,

As they say: "Dem geschenkten Gaul schaut man nicht ins Maul." somewhat like:" You dont look into the mouth of a horse, that you got as a gift."

So please dont demotivate Geralds efforts , from which other members might well profit!

Thank you Gerald, don`t let that stop you please.

  4. ...and don`t forget about the social component.

Especially for young people starting into the world , it might be more important

to make friends and find people you can learn together with and from each other and socialize,

then actual learning the stuff offered by the school.

As you said: nowadays you can fill up most kowledgegaps online, you can try this with

personal realationship to some amount as well ,but you could never substitute an actual

    personal relationships.

  5. Just started to browse a bit at deviantart.com.

Ist a really vast and hard to follow up Website and community.

So maybe you guys here have some more insights and could answer me some questions.

Firstly what astounds me is, if you click "allow adult content" , I am able to see all Kind

of kinky stuff without any verification. How is this confirming with US law?

Or is Porn just starting , when you show actual "p....tration"?

Second theres presented all kind of comissoned work.

So the artists seem to get payed for their sometimes quite amateurish work.

Is it, that people contact artists they like at deviantart, to draw some pictures and stories for them

and pay them or have the artists sold there work beforehand at some other place.

Are artists actually may be making a living just by way of deviantart?

  6. Theres great alternatives to adobes cloud.

    Firstly from adobe itself:

Adobe procreate cost 6,-€ and Adobe ideas is free for vectorworks on the move on my i-pad.

Just wishing for a doublesized i- pad or an android alternative with wacom pressuresensivity for the future to make this workflow perfect.

That combined with my old ps and ai works perectly fine.

For lineworks Mangastudio about 160,-€ does a much better job then ps anyway and with the new

Version coming up this summer i will most probably have to open up ps just for videoworks any longer.

O.k. Aftereffects in conjunction with the new close cinema connection is a temptation.

My Maxon MSA is the only subscriptionlike model i do at the moment, because i don't wanted to loose

My startinvestment by not following the upgrade-path , this was the best solution.

But I will stay back and watch the development for the time being.

Adobe and autodesk are offering great products and as sure as most pros will/must follow into the cloud,

Adobe runs the risk to loose their base in the longer run and make their competition stronger.

    Time will tell.

  7. Hi Sebastian,

I think its a great offer from your side and though Fuchur did a great job in the past, it would surly help to get a more

"Businesslike" look in what represents hashs great product. Its a pity that non of the ownersfamily like Jason and Martin participate here once in a while, almost like as if they have lost their faith in a broader succsess of A:M and arranging themselves keeping A:M at the current status quo with just the mantainance necessary.

As I said, I think that's ok for me as long as it keeps the boat floating, but some easy and not costly measures like your offer for instance might nevertheless be worth trying to solidify the base.

And Fuchur in regard to the forums: Martins withdrawl from cg talk didnt make real sense to me.

From my impression from different media, be it print or online, A:M is far less present today as it still was a few years ago. But that could be just my subjectiv focus .

  8. Yes it is a very good deal.

But competiton is also geting stronger rapidly with very vivid comunity and creative artistic output

And with no cost at all in one case but maybe a higher learning curve.

Surely Hash has some good plans for the future as well and probably don't need wise suggestions

From us, but just in case, it can't hurt, if they get to know our discussions.

At the end we all want our favourite software and company save and sound...

  9. To sum it up:

Maybe a different more liberal licensingsystem would be better also for the benefit of Hash,

(If this could not simply done with a different more liberal handling anyway)

These are not demands from my behalf, but just some thoughts and ideas for the best

    Of all of us.

Companies like Maxon and Pixologic live and prosper great that way.

It would be interesting to know, how well the licenses sell compared to the old cds.

My impression was, that the most copies of A:M are sold on tradeshows to young aspiring

Comic and cartoonfans to whom selling "something to get your hands on" is more easy.

(There came in the "demand" /idea for an usb-stick version.)

Anyway lets face it, most of them will drop out of it sooner or later again, when realizing,

They wont be able to fulfill their dreams, not because the software is not capabel enough,

But because their lack of dedication, skills and the time it would take. (Theres not so many

    Mark Largents around)

These users wouldn't have bought a new cd then, but they wouldnt renew the license today

    Neither.

Another big number of licenses, that were sold for education is probably affected by the likes

Of blender for instance, that is free and closer to the industrystandard technologywise.

So there is the "hard" core of A:M users, that are, derived from the people that frequently post

Here in the forum , no more then two dozen users, definitly not enough for hash to live on in the long run.

It would be good to widen that base.

Therefor it doesn't make sense to me, if from time to time someone finds its way into this forum

And is knocking at our door to drive him away with a thread like this one.

By the way, has anybody seen Manuel around lately?

    Fuchurs thinking also is complicated.

The vast majority of A:M ers are Einzelkämpfer working alone, I believe, so wouldnt let use many people

On e license. The core demand is one for working, one for rendering and one for maybe one for mobility

    (Laptop).

But I am not demanding here but simply asking for a discount as a longtimecustomer.

Sure Hash has the right to say no, but that leaves me stuck with the cd for the time being.

  10. This is exactly what I meant.

A pagelong legaldiscussion is not, what we need.

    Are we lawyers or artists?

So as a company its better to keep things simple and reasonable and listen to your

Customers needs and suggestions. That will surly sell more copies and bind

More users to hash in the long run.

How some people think, being harsh and unfriendly to their customers will help

    The company, escapes me.

A bit like in the old times, when Mr. Sappington and Martin were still around.

  11. Hi Rodney,

How about a model like lets say:

    - a basic version with a one seat licence a year for 79,-$

    - an advanced Version with a three-seat licence (home, office, laptop) a year for lets say 99,- or up to 149,-$

    - and the permanent Version for as it is 399,-$ or 299,- if I am right

all directly advertised in the store?

The advanced Version could close the gap for the users coming from the CD,

that were acustomed to the workflow using the computer on multiple computers.

(Yes, I know it was illegal, but it still was common practice amongst all of us I guess)

I even bought a second license once, frankly don`t know, what happend with that, if I would

have had to update it in the meantime and such.

Thats why I dont want to subscribe to more then one licence. It gets to complicated for me.

So a solution like an advanced licence at an attractive price, would sure help users like me.

Don`t know if technical hurdles are speaking against it, but maybe it could be a solution

    to make everybody happy?
