OK on a model I'm working on a have a motorcycle of sorts that has a rather unique wheel design and i managed to find a real life version of said wheel i can get a model part to look like the wheel but when it comes to actually making like like a wheel color wise I'm failing horribly , does any one happen to have a texture file or mat that would work well , its a high tech wheel from the future to make it specific

i have been coming up with quite a lot of cool looting materials thanks to the help of my fellow form goer's but i have reached an impasse, i have loaded a darksim material that creates and effect that looks like circuitry , i want to get a particular color to glow but there is no option to set just the colors to glow that i know of. i was going to try simply placing a second object under neath and having the part i need glowing be clear , but i cant find that option either . any ideas.

Quick question, i wish do make a bot that can fold up into a sphear to roll around to move, is there a way that i can take the sphear that comes with the library and cut it into 4 parts and still have the 4 parts keep its shape so that when moved together they form a round sphear again? i have tryed som basic cutting methodes but the remain parts allway warp due to not having the CPs if deleted

ok i said that i would upload a file of what im trying to do , this one is however of the leg of a walker , essentualy a 4 legged pod , this is one of the legs and here is the file itself legm.mdl

while that tut was informative its still not what i need , in essence i have a cable that starts very small ie put away , the hacker bot jumps onto the tank punched through its armor and extends the cable to the tanks cpu taking it over , the problem i was having was that after extending the cable a certain distance the cables width begain to faulter and is would change shape after a large extention. i will attempt to post a picture of what im talking about soon as im currently not at my main animation computer

OK i have been my self trying to get my "tentacle" to work and i noticed a problem , when a material is applied and the tentacle extends the material simple grows it dose not stretch , is there a setting i can use to stop it from doing this or is this going to require a lot of extra work to manually set

ok iv come accross a bit of a problem, in one scene im working on a tiny "Hackerbot" jumps onto a large for lack of a better word tank , its then supposed to extend a cable to conect to the tanks cpu to take it over , how ever iv come accross a problem where extending the cable will cause it warp/no longer be round as it has to bend and twist through the tanks armor , im currently using a set of 8 circles attached by 4 lines to make the tube. is there a better way to make this work? Note: the effect im looking to try and create is similar to the sentinals legs from the matrix

Just a question is there a way to render textures in not final mode , im trying to get texture to move/line up and it would work faster if it didnt take 5 mins to render one frame

simple question is there a way to add a CP to a curved live with out it changing the lines shape?

ok i need to find a way to make it so that Unit A can fire 15 or more "bullets" at unit B in some easy way and hopefully not have to have 300 bullets on the screen at once to be used when needed , or do i have a lot of work ahead of me

added note when you save save as a whole new file. i unfortunalty have lost items due to a file coing corrupt and it being my only save

well heyvern youve given me a lot to think about , on thing i would like to know you said you used a distortion map to alter the text to look good on the round part of the pillar , is there a tutorial for a distortion map or is it really easy ?

pretty simpal for an object to shatter do i need to make 50ish peices of said object or is there a tool that will do this for me

OK In a part of my movie and giant explosive uncovers an obelisk, now i have been able to create the bas geometry for it but when trying to add the glyph as i would call them it causes two much distortions and there are open patches . i need to know if there is a way to add the glyphs an easier way with out having to use a Boolean cutter to do so

i need to make some writing and i though it would be ueasyer to use a bollean cuter but aperantly it needs a bone to use , can it be done with out it

OK this should be a interesting effect to pull of if its is actually possible , i currently have a tank like unit going up against a big walker , this walker has a gun that fires a green beam that is in essence a disintegration ray , what i need is a way to have the model disintegrate on one side till its all gone , to make an example take a block and shoot a beam at it only the part being directly hit would start breaking up first or a ship breaking up from the front till the back side finaly breaks up or in dragon ball z when i guy gets hit with a energy blast

ok might be simple probly not i need a way to make two materials blend together with out a hard line , best example woul dbe in wow(world of warcraft) if you look at the ground by a path is it nicely blends into the grass / sand
