  1. ok this would be easyer to explain to some one who has played the game "Sword of the stars" one of the playable races called the "liir" ( or as i like to call "Space fishy") anyways there ships have a unique way of moving in such that they teleport forward bit by bit hundereds of times a minute giving a flickering effect , i was woundering if there is a way to make a model flicker in and out like that with out having to set its transperancey every .5 of a frame.
  2. ok it should be simple but i guess for me its not , im trying to apply a material to a model but when i do it applies to the whole thing , iv tryed selecting only the sections i want but it stil does the whole thing, what am i doing wrong

  4. ok whn making a jet craft of sort i have made the splines alone the wings to look like the seams on real aircraft, only problem is that if i turn on render as lines the surface goes away , is there a way to have it render as both
  5. i know what a black hole is , as youl note my title is event horizon , i need and effect that creates the distortion that a black hole produces

  7. ok in the sharp lines on the face i made post there was belive it or not a movie to show me how to redirect splines (THANKS) and somethin gthat was shown was the ability to move a cp along a spline with out actauly moving the spline , i coundent quite make out the buttion that was said. any one know?
  8. ok i made this face using the tutorial i got a few posts ago but for some reason its a little sharp i cant manage to get the sharpness out with out a way to big distortion so im asking for help heres the file face.mdl

  10. ok usualy this does not bug me much but on a really complex model its starting to , for some reasion both lines and CPs are being put behind the Grid is there a way i dont know of o fix this
  11. ok i have made a gattling gun kinda thing and am riging it to turn 30 degrees play a fireing animation and then keep rolling , what i would like to know is is it posable to play a action for say 1 second then snap it back to its zero second and have it continue on from there
  12. ok going through some of my models i wanted to try an optical camo on a unit , if you dont now what that is its a sort of cloak per say , unlike say a standard cloak a optical camo is more like im putting a tv in frount om me and a camera behind me on every section of my body, a good example of this is from phantom crash . in essence the body becomes clear bu the bacground is distorted due to the buold of the body.
  13. a few things to note , first off , am automaticaly says yes this patch is displayed so render it , b if you do not have to have SOLID models for them to render a simpal 2D square will render, if you absolutly need the model to be solid and then to be able to see into it use a bolean cutter, ow and ask lots of questions if you have them , i know i do
  14. ok i was under the asumption that the boolena cutter and the tile where seperate models alltogether does this mean that both need to ocupie the same model file ?
  15. ok very usefull , my only question know is can you set it so that a boolean cutter only removes Color A material and leaves Color b , such as the tiles blowing off but the circurty underneeth remaining
  16. ok as of part 5 of my not machine project im trying to build a not machine face, as in humen (shutter) but for the life of me my hash library is completly empty atm. my first attempt was less than impressive so was wondering if some one has a basic face spline setup they could post

  18. ok i have a sceen where a bullet like projectile hits 2 armor tiles right where they connect , what should happen is that the tiles deform to just allow the bullet through then slowly restore to normal , only problem i have is that it seams to take way to many bones on the part that the bullet plows through and it dosent look very good , is there a way to set 1 model segment to automaticaly deform when another "hits" it or do i just have a lot more work ahead of me

  20. yes a bridged connection is a networking thing , this was mostly to get some hard earned info out there
  21. ok after much beating my computer with that -4 licence on wrong host error or such i think i have found the problem , apperantly if you create a bridged connection on ur computer it counts as big enough to throw your licence key , not really a point of help but i though idd let u know
  22. see this is what i like about these fourms , i can ask the most basic of questions and i get colorfull pictures explaining how its works and not "go read a manual nub" thanks guys
  23. ok, so my post yesterday about having 10 splines join caused a ruckus and I finaly threw the modele out , how ever going trough some of the images iv seen is some of the help files iv nocoted that splines can terminat on another spline with out creating a CP , and i have tryed this , only problem is that it seams to attach the spline where ever it wants along the attached to spline , how can i get this to go where i want as if i can find this out i could reduce the number of splines in my model drasticaly
