  1. OK pretty simple , a buddy of mine was looking through all the vehicles i have been drawing and noted that while i have a good supply of craft and such i don't have a single trooper or infantry men. to that end i searched for my old AM cd but failed to find it and did a quick search of the hash site but was unable to find something of the sort . all I'm looking for is a male and female model that is anatomically correct ( ie looks actually human not deformed in any way ) that i may use as a template for redrawing.
  2. SO a T-X...... (terminator referance) still its good . only comment i have is that the legs dont quite fit the rest of the body . but hey for some one who has been using AM for just a year still pretty good
  3. OK thanks to all for your help yesterday with applying texture as i have been getting some good results from that. my next questions is hopefully simple i have 2 textures ones is of sand the other soil ( light tan and dark brown) i would like to find a way to have them blend at different amounts so i could create a beach of sorts with stretches of both soils and sand at different rates
  4. its ok i got it to work for what i needed , my questions was why if i only had it set for that small belt i had for the first pic did it show me the entire object covered in pre render view
  5. may i inquire what a knife and spline tool does ?
  6. ok good to know one question why does it show the whole thing covered in the texture when its only the small belt set
  7. this is what it looks like pre render , to me it looks like its supposed to cover the whole item, which is what i wanted ow here is the texture itself
  8. ok trying textures for a bit to reduce rendering times and have run into a problem here is a pic of the rendered image , you can see a belt of circut like textures surounded by a distortion of the rest . when in normal mode it looks like its fully covered by the circut texture part2.bmp here is a copy of the model i used Model9.mdl
  9. pretty simple i need a material that makes the same effect you see on a circut board and was wondering if any one has seen anything like that .
  10. OK bad puns aside i do have a question . i have a model setup to unfold in about 5 different movements and though that i could get the pose option to preform this . i attached bones to all the models parts and tired to set up a pose to do it but its not working . there is an option on the bottom that looks like the time line for the choreography but it does not seam to work . am i using this correctly or is this not how the poses option work
  11. ok heres the story . im trying to make some better looking equipments for my models and one of those parts are there gun barrels . i want to use the standard effect used by most barrel makers with holes in the end ( not the main one the bullet comes out). what i need to know is how can i warp said holes around the tube with out them warping into junk. heres a link to what im taking about Gun barrel
  12. not exactly i guess the best way of saying what i want would be if i where to make the glyph into a peace of cloth and then lay in on the ground , i know i could simply make the glyph a graphic and place it down that way but i also want to be able to do other effects while its there
  13. OK so i was trying some thing new from the standard and watching my friend play a game got an idea to try and make some form of portal effect just for fun . i crafted a glyph of sorts and tryed to get it to form to the terrain with little effect. i have uploaded the project file itself as its still Farly new . the effect I'm going for is the camera moves to the glyph which then burns onto the terrain below then the portal opens , the first thing that i hit is that i cant get the glyph itself to form to the ground. is there a way to project the glyph down wards so that this happens or is there another way to get something similar. portal.prj
  14. OK heres the deal i have constructed a terrain in the form of a grid. there is a part that i want to flatten that contains around 25 cps . is there a easy way to make them rise/fall to the same selected level other than attaching a bone to each cp and modifying manually
  15. OK maybe i should explain a Little more . on the terrain i have a grid comprised of inch sized blocks for unit placement. i need some way to make it so that when i render from top down and save the image and print it the grid is 1 inch by 1 inch in real life
  16. ok better explain . im drawing map terrian for a game so its a top down perspective
  17. ok quick question i have made a map in inchs that i would like to render for printing in real life to be in inchs as well , what is the best way to do this ( ie i want to have the grind that is 1 inch spaced to be 1 ince spaced when printed out)
  18. lets say that for one reason or another i cant find it , any suggestions.
  19. ok im tryin gto put off an effect simmilar to the one in this image in the bottom of this lords staff you see the effect im looking for. i have tryed a few attempts but have since got nothing of the sort.
  20. OK quick question. i am trying to use the streak emitter to place an effect like a rocket taking off . but for some reason the streaks jump up then fall down instead of just blasting down. i know this should be simple but i cant get it to blast the other way
  21. OK i have been trying to add some roundness to my creations with circles and ovals and such . and to that point i have been using the lathe tool to create wheels that are well ...... round. but i have encountered a problem. it seams that the lathe tool works on a 8 point system while the grid is only 4 . when i try to use the snap to grid option the points at 0 90 180 270 snap into correct position but the points at 45 135 225 315 snap to what ever point is closest. is there a way i can collect the cps as a full group and select only one of them to snap into the grid to aline the circle???
  22. Ello again i have finally be able to generate a good looking terrain for my project but have encountered a possible problem i decided to make the planet I'm on a green one with plants and such. but i digress how would be the best way to make a forest . the plants them selfs will range from small flowers to large trees and theres going to be a lot of them should they be part of the land terrain or separate entity's. any other ideas would be useful as well
  23. OK i still have yet to give up on my TA style building and am still trying to find a way to make it work but have run into a problem , i have made a diamond that should count as sold but when the Boolean hits it it cuts it off as if it where hollow . is there any way to make it cut as if it where solid
  24. few things that would make finding this out earyer to do 1 32 or 64bit system 2 xp or vista ( or windows 7) 3 multipal HD or singal few things to try if you have time , if you have vista in the serch bar type memory and run the built in check program as well as if vista , explore the cd and set the main setup.exe file to run in compatibility mode for xp check the folder permissions for the hash folder to make sure that they are not to restrictive for your account make sure that your directx installation is up to date check your video card drivers and make sure they are working correctly , or try removing them compleatly and reinstalling from scratch just to name a few if these dont help try posting some more specs on your system
  25. ello again this is more of a question than a how do i i was trying to recreate the building effect used in a old game known as "total annihilation" the effect is simplistic but looks cool as it works 1 a builder bot walks to the location it wants to build something 2 a green wire frame of the to be built object appears , to keep it simple for this test i made it a diamond 3 the bot sprays the wire frame with nanobots , as this is done a fully surfaces version of the diamond slowly grows up , 4 after the diamond is fully green the actual surface follows in the same way , once that is done the build is complete my current problem is on step 3 i figured that i could use a Boolean cutter completely covering the surfaced diamond and then raise the boolean cutter to get the effect i wanted but as it turns out the Boolean cutter ( which is a large cube) cuts every thing out including the wire frame diamond to give a little help of the effect I'm trying for i found this vid on you tube of the game itself
