Hutch Posted October 31, 2004 Posted October 31, 2004 Here is a turn around of my owl model. I plan to smooth him a bit more, add some talons and shape up his feet a bit. Then start rigging and decaling. Let me know what you think! Owl turn around Quote
Hutch Posted October 31, 2004 Author Posted October 31, 2004 Hmm, I just tried at my Mom's house and it works but it won't let me save target as.... Quote
Admin Rodney Posted October 31, 2004 Admin Posted October 31, 2004 Working here! Maybe it's fixed. Nice owl! Makes me think of Snowbird of Alpha Flight fame (for comic book fans). For the uninitiated, Snowbird is a shapechanger (from the Canadian Superhero group Alpha Flight) that can change into all manner of animals but always snow white in color. Really cool effects produced by John Byrne in the comics. Looking forward to seeing 'her' fly! -Rodney Quote
Scottj3d Posted October 31, 2004 Posted October 31, 2004 Worked for me.Looks good. I think the wings could be layered for the feathers but it depends on how much detail you want. This could probably be done with a bumpmap as well as modelling. Quote
patsommer Posted November 1, 2004 Posted November 1, 2004 works for me and looks good.... post when its more complete i cant wait to see 8) Quote
hypnomike Posted November 1, 2004 Posted November 1, 2004 Coming along nicely. Great pose, was it all from a rotoscope or did you have to create the pose yourself? Keep posting your progress. Quote
Hutch Posted November 1, 2004 Author Posted November 1, 2004 Hi, thanks for all the replies. Rodney, glad you like it. It won't be white when I am finished. I want to get it rigged and make sure I don't need to change any splinage before I start decaling. Scott, I probably will add some bump maps but I definitely don't want to add any more splines. I would like to be able to make his wings fold up. As the model is now the mesh of the wings is so dense I am not sure I will be able to do that effectively. Mike, I didn't use any rotoscopes. I sort of do my sketching in AM. I made a few versions before this one. After collecting as many images of owls as I could find I modeled a very crude one and progressively refined it. Here is a wireframe of half of the owl. I would really like to reduce the wings splines alot but keep the look I have. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Quote
