heyvern
Here is a director's chair I built the other day. I found a free wood working project with schematics! No really! I used the diagrams for the wood working project and traced in A:M. Cool way to test out wood working projects I guess. I also used Jeff Lee's fantastic web based sky light rig gizmo! That thing rocks! Anyone needs a director's chair I will post it somewhere... it doesn't fold up though. Vernon "!" Zehr
HeadlessBill
I like it. It almost looks like a directors chair I have here in my house.

heyvern
..it doesn't fold but does it animate well otherwise...... Well, before I animate it I am still waiting for the glue to dry so I can finish sanding and put on a couple of coats of polyurethane... Wait... can I put polyurethane on a model built with AM or do I need a plug-in? Better email Norm... What you see is what you get. I used a wood material I created eons ago for the... wood. It took ages to render with the sky light rig with the motion blur, multipass and raytraced shadows. I plan to use this for a banner image on the arm to promote AM films, thus the logo on the chair back. Thanks for the comments. This was a fun little thing. Randy
"Well, before I animate it I am still waiting for the glue to dry so I can finish sanding and put on a couple of coats of polyurethane... Killer model! I think what you're looking for is some of that hard to find patchurethane though.

racreel
Where did you find the plans? Are they available online somewhere? Thanks, racreel
heyvern
Where did you find the plans? Are they available online somewhere? You can get the plans I used here: http://www.thewoodcrafter.net/proj/p46.html It has a bunch of pop-up windows though. Just to warn you. Admin Rodney Posted May 14, 2004 Admin Share Posted May 14, 2004 Vern, Is there a shred of truth to the rumors that we'll soon be able to purchase one of these chairs via cafewoodpress? Nice chair!!!
heyvern
I just saw Alan Alda on PBS talking to a guy who builds bicycles with a computer driven laser that cuts out shapes from high impact plastic sheets. He thinks the day will come when we have those in our house and design our own stuff and print it out. Vernon "!" Zehr
Admin Rodney Posted May 14, 2004 Admin Share Posted May 14, 2004 So.... I take it that is a no... I'd sure like to sit in that chair and read my tech manual... ... watchin the latest A:M DVD... ... splinin... and chattin... etc. etc. etc.
zandoriastudios
You can get custom printed directors chair panels, for not too much. I did have one of those in my studio, but I'm a little too heavy for it and broke the arm rest!
hashlister
Nice image Vern- Can someone remind me of the link for Jeff Lee's Light rig? I can't find it anywhere and am interested in obtaining it...
Admin Rodney Posted May 17, 2004 Admin Share Posted May 17, 2004 Howdy Ma'am, (Tips hat) This should get you there: JSL Skylight Rig Utility - by Jeff Lee I'm not to sure you can 'obtain' it though in the strict sense of the word. The utility is web based and thus can only be used online. There are other skylight solutions that can be obtained... but Jeff's is certainly hard to beat!!!
