RS3D Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Attached is a rendering of an assault rifle I put together. It loosely resembles a FN FAL assault rifle, but any resemblance to any actual rifle is purely a coincidence. I was more interested in a realistic texture than any mechanical accuracy. Quote
Fuchur Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Very well looking rifle and very nice used look . Good job. See you *Fuchur* Quote
Admin Rodney Posted September 17, 2014 Admin Posted September 17, 2014 That's very good texturing! As a former maintainer of small arms I would be wary of firing that rifle without a thorough inspection first. From the outside it does look operational though! Nice job! Quote
John Bigboote Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Great, looks well battle-worn. I'd like to see you render a 360 spin on it! Make sure your specularities are right... Quote
RS3D Posted September 19, 2014 Author Posted September 19, 2014 Thanks to Fuchur, Rodney, Agep and itsjustme for you feedback, I really appreciate it. John Bigboote commented on the specular textures. I had some problems getting them to work with all the detail maps. I am going to have to look into better ways of matching the worn parts to specular highlights. I finally took most of them off and just relied on lighting tricks to get a metal-look. Actually, the model itself does not look as worn as the choreography rendering. Attached is a rendering of the side view from the modeling window. Quote
