Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted August 25, 2014 Author Hash Fellow Share Posted August 25, 2014 One problem I notice now is that the waves fade almost to zero but they vanish suddenly before they fade out completely.
fae_alba
One problem I notice now is that the waves fade almost to zero but they vanish suddenly before they fade out completely. Fix that by a quick camera cut. Like say to under water looking up at the bobbin. (Hint hint)
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted September 2, 2014 Author Hash Fellow Share Posted September 2, 2014 Here's a different test. This uses cloth as a water surface for rippling. Notice that that waves even bounce off the edges of the container which is cool. ripplesA.mov

Zaryin
Yeah, that one looks great! THere does seem to be some pixelation to it though.

Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted September 3, 2014 Author Hash Fellow Share Posted September 3, 2014 Here is a composite of four other tests with different settings. None of these are highly successful but they will inform future experimenting.. clothripplesTests.mov
KJ'd Beast
Rob, Very cool applications. Each has interesting properties. The bottom one almost passes for aluminum foil with some minor tweaks.
John Bigboote
GREAT test Rob. I'd imagine those have various mesh densities? I'd be curious to see that applied to a much-much bigger mesh, like a pond.
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted September 3, 2014 Author Hash Fellow Share Posted September 3, 2014 GREAT test Rob. I'd imagine those have various mesh densities? I'd be curious to see that applied to a much-much bigger mesh, like a pond. of the four, the third one had 0.5cm patches, the rest had 1cm patches. The denser mesh took many times longer to simulate. I found that the general movement of the waves wasn't radically different/better for the denser mesh, the cloth settings make the most change, so I'm less inclined to pursue very dense setups.
