jakerupert
I saw the Spielbergmovie last night. For me his aproach is a deadend. Probably you could have reached a far better result with real actors then with these mediocre cgi-actors. The cgi is impressive, no doubt, but used in a totally wrong way on the wrong topic. Hergè is the master of stylization, so a "pixar incredibles" look would have been far more fitting. Just look at the film leader, which transports far better the mysterious and mystic atmosphere of Hergès original Comics. I doubt, that this series will be succsessfull in the long run. A pity, because they even didn`t start with the strongest story...
thekamps
In Germany it is "Tim Und Stuppi". In the U.S. it is "The Adventures of Tintin".
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted November 11, 2011 Hash Fellow Share Posted November 11, 2011 It hasn't opened here yet. I suppose if Speilberg is doing it it ought to be presentable, but the mo-cap movies haven't done real well here yet.
Gerry
It sounded like a non-starter from the outset. Not animating in the style of the books was a first mistake that could not be redeemed. But I thought it was live-action. It's mocap CGI? Sounds terrible. I suppose I'll have to look at one of the trailers eventually.
Fuchur
It sounded like a non-starter from the outset. Not animating in the style of the books was a first mistake that could not be redeemed. But I thought it was live-action. It's mocap CGI? Sounds terrible. I suppose I'll have to look at one of the trailers eventually. I recently saw it too... My point of view as a normal person: 7 out of 10 points. It is fun to watch and the story is okay and you even forget that it is CG inbetween because it plays well with your senses. (you can see that someone who knows how to play with audience-attention had it in his hands). My point of view as an animator: 5 out of 10 points. While it is one of the better motion-captured animation-movies it still has this feeling that something is too livelike for the characters. I although think, that for the fact that you still can see (and it is meant to be seen by the creators) that the characters are not real, it looks too real. Pixar-movies get a better balance between comic-style and realism than this one. Anyway: You can watch much worse movies these days and it is entertaining and there were quite many fun scence when the audience laughed... The biggest mistake you can make however is to be a absolutly fan of the books and watch the movie to expect wonders. As always when you read a book you really liked and after that go to the cinema you will be a little disappointed at some point... I never was a big "Tim und Struppi"-Fan (didn't come in touch too much with it when I was younger) and like that I had fun watching it... Darkwing
I'm super excited for this movie regardless of what people say. I grew up with the cartoons on TV and I think I'm just going to love it simply because I will. This is basically the movie I've been waiting all of this year to see. Fortunately I'm a terrible animator, so I can probably like it better than most of you who are
