JohnArtbox Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 The SSS thread in the main forum raised the classic Jade Dragon SSS benchmark and I needed to take an evening away from rigging and animating, so here it is. I really like this new feature . It's easy to use, relatively quick to render and allround pretty damn impressive. Eventually, I'm thinking I'll add the classic display case surrounds and see how far I can push it as the SSS feature evolves Quote
cfree68f Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 Awesome! Is that displacement, or did you model that? Quote
Tralfaz Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 Looks really good. Is it possible to post another render side by side, one with SSS and one without, so I can compare the difference between the two? Thanks... Al Quote
NancyGormezano Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 That really looks gooooood. Great jade. Great jade dragon. (maybe add some legs? wings? as well as case ) Quote
JohnArtbox Posted January 30, 2007 Author Posted January 30, 2007 Quickanswers Totlover:Thanks Colin: All modelled. Here's the wireframe Al: Here's a series of renders with different options Nancy:Legs, wings and tail eventually. Quote
JohnArtbox Posted January 31, 2007 Author Posted January 31, 2007 Small update, I've done some work on the back legs and added skeletal wings(mainly to try and work out size and placement). There's quite a few deformation problems from the bones, but it's early days and I'll fix those once the basic form's done. Enjoy Some minor image tweaking done in AM Composite, Exposure, Bloom and Film Grain Quote
killi Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 That looks brillient. look forward to see it animated Quote
gazzamataz Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 Pretty gripping stuff there John, I haven't tried the latest version of 14 since I ain't got the CD. Does it take an awful lot longer to render when using SSS? Quote
Zaryin Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 No. There's no real noticable differenence to me whether I render with SSS or not. Quote
Nunsofamerica Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 A-M-azing lol. one thing I noticed though. try making the wings and legs a little more scaled/ jagged (like the body) I think that would add a nice effect to it Quote
