johnl3d Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 I had an idea on the way home tonight so I tried it out and except for a few light spots is seems to work as per plan appear.mov The other option was to have the shell appear then the material change to something similar to what I used This is the first render Quote
Dhar Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 That's cool. Reminds me of some creature you'd see on the original Star Trek Series Quote
johnl3d Posted January 17, 2007 Author Posted January 17, 2007 appear1.mov Sped this up to test next step..dynamic exploding element the idea is a character forms the shell be casting a spell and raising his arms then when it explodes he has morphed into a different creature Will have to fix the exploding model to look more shell like and probably more pieces and fix the gravity so it doesn't sweep up welcome any suggestions Quote
cfree68f Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 Very Cool John, I can actually use that technique on the project I'm working on right now. How did you do the noise in the sphere? Quote
johnl3d Posted January 18, 2007 Author Posted January 18, 2007 abirth.zip Here's the project it uses a darktree that I included remember the project is just in idea stage no tweaking Quote
johnl3d Posted January 18, 2007 Author Posted January 18, 2007 appear2.mov I trimmed the exploding model to make it more shell like and tried a different darktree Quote
case Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 very cool john it looks very neat wow amazing for a guy that could pass out at any second lol! Quote
johnl3d Posted January 19, 2007 Author Posted January 19, 2007 appear3.mov A little tweaking and another model plus a few more materials and a flare getting close Quote
Zaryin Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 I don't know what you are trying to go for here John, but it looks awesome! Quote
mark Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 I think the appearing shell looks great! I do find that shell fragments flying up and away a little disconcerting though. If they followed a trajectory I think the effect might look better - or perhaps if they started to follow a trajectory and then vanished! Only my opinion. Quote
johnl3d Posted January 20, 2007 Author Posted January 20, 2007 Mark I agree have to work on that Quote
