bentothemax Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 Hey, it's been a while since I've posted somthing new. Since i saw that wonderful katana render, i was inspired again to make something cool with animation master. I decided to make my favorite gun. The desert Eagle .50 cal (most powerful handgun today [i belive]). Rendered with radiosity, its not quite done at 2600 patches. The bullets are modifed from the one that i made in the bullet thread in the material lab. Ben C&C wanted and welcome.... even if its harsh Quote
KenH Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 Nice work....subject matter aside. Not that I know about handguns, but it seems like it should be abit shinier. Quote
Odog2020 Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 Good looking gun, I kind of thought it was a bereta when I looked at the picture before reading it, but then I thought about it, and it looks nothing like a bereta. I would love to be able to see D E S E R T E A G L E .50 down the side of it. James Quote
DanCBradbury Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 Radiosity i see. lol. Handguns can come in all sorts of finishes. The most used is a black anadized aluminum powder coating, which has virtually no reflectivity. Looking good. Quote
Mr. Jaqe Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 Desert Eagle, the main HS'er of Counter Strike... Enough game-talk, now for the gun: Looks really great, but could use some more shine, maybe less gray. Can't find much else to critizise... Great job! Quote

The reason its so grey is because of the room...... and the lighting.... theres not much for it to reflect, and low intensity light (harly any spec). Thx, im working on the details right now.... ill have a render by tonight. I think. Ben Quote
phnxpyre Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 Thats a pretty cool gun! I'm really liking the radiosity in the recent WIP's... You've insipired me to do radiosity. Quote
bentothemax Posted November 24, 2005 Author Posted November 24, 2005 Here is a new render.... low res but it only took 53 minutes I tried to make it shinier and added some more detail. Ben Quote
Mr. Jaqe Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 Do you play counterstrike!? Yup, I've been in the game for about year and a half or so... I tried to make it shinier and added some more detail. The gun looks a lot better, now that you've added color to the trigger and all the other little parts and the small engraving looks really good. I'm guessing you didn't model it, so is it a bumpmap or...? Btw, you've become quite the radiosity-user and, no no doubt about it, you've achieved some impressive results with it... Keep up the 1337 work!(<-secret CS-language encoded message:P) Quote
DanCBradbury Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 Lookin real good. I like the mildly shiny metal. the clip looks a little odd, normally they have some sort of way for the user to see how many bullets they have left... like a few holes down the side. Anyway, your model is coming along nicely. Powdered coated desert eagle Quote
DarkLimit Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 that gun kicks ass...........nice job..... Quote
bentothemax Posted November 25, 2005 Author Posted November 25, 2005 Here is a really fast test...... Ben deagle_shoot_test.mov Quote
bentothemax Posted November 29, 2005 Author Posted November 29, 2005 Hey, srry to bring this back up to the top, but if anyone was interested, i have posted the model on turbosquid. Thanks, Ben http://www.turbosquid.com/FullPreview/Index.cfm/ID/288218 Quote
Dhar Posted November 29, 2005 Posted November 29, 2005 $50 ain't bad for such a top notch object. Too bad I don't have a use for it. Come to think of it, is there an A:M flea market where Hashers can either sell or trade their work? Quote
Karl Posted November 30, 2005 Posted November 30, 2005 Come to think of it, is there an A:M flea market where Hashers can either sell or trade their work? I think Hash, Inc. should start one... OR at the very least create a (heavily moderated) BUY/SELL/TRADE FORUM! Quote

DanCBradbury Posted November 30, 2005 Posted November 30, 2005 i'll pay you two goblins for a gargoyl! lol. Not sure how they'd go about doing that. Quote
Dhar Posted November 30, 2005 Posted November 30, 2005 i'll pay you two goblins for a gargoyl! lol. Not sure how they'd go about doing that. Just follow e-bay's lead. A 'Hash Market' topic to be created where hashers can offer their project/model files and let PayPal take care of the payments. If I need a model/object then I post what I need with specifications and have the community compete by offering proposals. My main reason for suggesting this is because I am not good at modeling while some others aren't too keen on animating. So, why not have the two combine their talents in a mutually beneficial transaction. Just a thought. Sorry for getting off topic. Quote
