Just as a quick break from modeling the Daedalus, I decided to model a somewhat simpler model, any guesses?
-
Some more progress. Been mainly working on the hanger bay. i want to have it such that the bay doors can open and the hanger is visible on the inside, that way if I ever build some 302s or Puddle Jumpers, I can have them land on the Daedalus and whatnot Also, now that I'm content with the overall shape of the hanger, I shall bevel it in the morning!
-
Yeah, I do that now, but remember I started this in October back when I didn't even have a clue about beveling, so I gotta bevel the pieces that I didn't bevel back then
-
You could always do a full blown commentary having those who wish to participate in the commentary get together on the internet and record a commentary through the whole video. That way all the intros and things would be done at the beginning and everyone could discuss about how the whole project came together, what their contribution was etc

i have done a fair bit of timing and dialogue, so yes, I know you can get more than your name out, I'm just stating it's not going to be very in depth. Especially if you get to describing how you did something.

thanks, I'm now doing beveling along the main parts. I've used the magnitude control for some of the spots, but others pretty much require some extra splines running through it

y'know, with a 10 second animation, their name is probably about all that they'll get in

that'd be cool. I kinda use a "cheaters" bevel with a lot of the smaller details and that is basically make my rectangular pieces more trapezoid shaped, so it maintains the same splinage but the bottom flares out a bit to catch the light. Mind you I don't do that on the large pieces, only the greebles. Something I'd really like to model to go with this ship would be Atlantis, but Atlantis is extremely complicated and a considerably more advanced model for my pay level But if i do make it, it'd make a cool test to go with Mark's water rig. I dunno, I may be crazy enough (and bored enough) to try and make it

And some more for those interested. One of the things I'm trying to do is bevel at least the main areas as that is something I didn't do before
-
I might be able to. I've never experimented with altering the FPS of a DVD, but I think I can do it. I tend to like to go all out on menus though when I do a DVD

Some more progress. Began working on the engines. The goal is to have all the main components modeled and then hit the details. It's kinda neat picking up a model you haven't worked on in a while. There were certain problems I couldn't figure out on how to continue before, but now, 8 or so months later, I just opened the model, did them up in like 5-10 min and was looking at it thinking "man, and I spent days before trying to think of how to do this!" Anyways, here's the pic:

yay, the christmas animation! i love those.
-
wow, wish I could render things that fast
-
that is true. so I guess in effect, Stian literally is the Animation Master
-
I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that this is perhaps the most detailed/advanced model made with AM to date. If it isn't, it's gotta be in the top 5.

now would be an appropriate time for some swear words I think, something along the lines of Holy F***

Drop Box is quite nice. Used it some for Earth-Link Zero, very easy to use (for those who haven't used it before)
-
that happens to me sometimes. when in camera view, use the scroll wheel on your mouse and zoom in and out some, that usually works for me
-
it's been trimming down on the weight, it's an all-pixel diet
-
Thought about it... it's 3X the render time and HD Youtubes take a long time to buffer. Maybe going up to 480p (854x480) could be optional. We can think about it. I would go with at least 480p. I mean 480p is essentially the new standard definition
-
I have an idea but I probably won't do anything for this project mostly cause I haven't finished an animation project in approx 5 years. so you can have my idea if you want
-
Wow, just incredible. The splining is so clean too but that last pic is beautiful. What does it look like with lights on the others side? I think I'd be inclined just to leave it with lights on one side just because it looks clean and not overly busy

may we see a wireframe?
