  1. It's ridiculous how long it takes just to get a little done!
  2. y'know, with a 10 second animation, their name is probably about all that they'll get in
  3. that'd be cool. I kinda use a "cheaters" bevel with a lot of the smaller details and that is basically make my rectangular pieces more trapezoid shaped, so it maintains the same splinage but the bottom flares out a bit to catch the light. Mind you I don't do that on the large pieces, only the greebles. Something I'd really like to model to go with this ship would be Atlantis, but Atlantis is extremely complicated and a considerably more advanced model for my pay level But if i do make it, it'd make a cool test to go with Mark's water rig. I dunno, I may be crazy enough (and bored enough) to try and make it
  4. And some more for those interested. One of the things I'm trying to do is bevel at least the main areas as that is something I didn't do before
  5. I might be able to. I've never experimented with altering the FPS of a DVD, but I think I can do it. I tend to like to go all out on menus though when I do a DVD
  6. Some more progress. Began working on the engines. The goal is to have all the main components modeled and then hit the details. It's kinda neat picking up a model you haven't worked on in a while. There were certain problems I couldn't figure out on how to continue before, but now, 8 or so months later, I just opened the model, did them up in like 5-10 min and was looking at it thinking "man, and I spent days before trying to think of how to do this!" Anyways, here's the pic:
  7. So I started this model in October and I figured I'd pick it up again:
  8. yay, the christmas animation! i love those.
  9. wow, wish I could render things that fast
  10. that is true. so I guess in effect, Stian literally is the Animation Master
  11. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that this is perhaps the most detailed/advanced model made with AM to date. If it isn't, it's gotta be in the top 5.
  12. now would be an appropriate time for some swear words I think, something along the lines of Holy F***
  13. Drop Box is quite nice. Used it some for Earth-Link Zero, very easy to use (for those who haven't used it before)
  14. that happens to me sometimes. when in camera view, use the scroll wheel on your mouse and zoom in and out some, that usually works for me
  15. it's been trimming down on the weight, it's an all-pixel diet
  16. Thought about it... it's 3X the render time and HD Youtubes take a long time to buffer. Maybe going up to 480p (854x480) could be optional. We can think about it. I would go with at least 480p. I mean 480p is essentially the new standard definition
  17. I have an idea but I probably won't do anything for this project mostly cause I haven't finished an animation project in approx 5 years. so you can have my idea if you want
  18. Wow, just incredible. The splining is so clean too but that last pic is beautiful. What does it look like with lights on the others side? I think I'd be inclined just to leave it with lights on one side just because it looks clean and not overly busy
  19. That is simply beautiful. Those textures are so fantastic, I feel like I could reach out and touch them!
  20. heh, one more: CPs, CPs, CPs! I cannot make models without splines! Ok, I'm done with the cheesy AM-ified Holmes lines
  21. Come Spleen, come, the model is afoot!
  22. so this is completely unrelated to the topic, but whenever I see the title of this thread, I can't help but hear the line from Sherlock Holmes in my head Blackwood: I have a request, someone I'd like to see...Sherlock Holmes yeah, sorry
  23. Just a quick question, are you using particles or streaks?
  24. is that using like that newton physics thing or something?
