Ok, this thing is acting strange. AM is crashing, I mean a lot. When I reopen it doesn't remember what I had open last, or any of the library, properties, etc. I'm using AM 2006. V13 ot. Should I re-install? Also, where are the updates for V13? Thanks

Ok, I have this process almost down.... 1. I have the character walking into the scene and walk out. 2. I have the character bring a book in, and set it down. 3. I have the character leave. Now... I need to constrain the character to a new path. I posted this before, but I'm not having any luck. I need the character to walk in on a different path. So I added a new path, Added a new constraint If I keyframe the enforcement I get a warning: When I go to adjust the ease, the program crashes. Are you not allowed to constrain a character to more then one path? or should I set up a new choreography? Thanks for all the help so far. I couldn't have done this project without this Forum! book_drop.mov

Thanks, I did watch that, but didn't do that. I ended up recreating the scene. It works, now I have to add the other books being brought in. So far I've have about 34 hours on this. It is amazing how quickly it adds up! Thanks for your help. Each time I use this I learn more, then find out there is more to learn!

Ok, I have the clip almost done! I have the character walking through the scene. He then walks in again carrying a book. He then sets it down, and walks out. It worked, and then I got picky! I went to adjust some of the movements and now the thing does work right at all. As he was setting the book down there needed to be some adjustment. I did that in the Choreography Window. After I did, his arm went out of wack during the next walk cycle. How do you get an arm,,,,leg...etc...to go back into an action after you adjusted it?

I'll give that a try, thanks.

Ok, I'm getting there on this project.... What is better, to make one long path for the character to move on, or different paths to move on? I have a character carrying in books, setting them down and leaving, and returning with another book. Should I create one path for the character to follow or make new paths each time they enter? When I try to add another constraint the program does not like it very much! Anyone used more then one path?
-
I think I see what the problem is. I have to key the enforcement at the start of the path and the end of the path. When I do that the action comes back.
-
How do I do that? Is there another email or is it on the Forums?
-
I added an action to my time line and it disappeared. I do have the path ease set so the model stops on at the end of the path, so the new action can take over. But it is not there for me to edit. Anyone with any ideas?

I'm starting to get this now.... I was thinking layers because I was adding more then one constraint. Thanks again.

YES! Thanks Ken....I didn't know I could add more then one constraint! You can layer these things? It worked just like I wanted it to. Thanks!

Ok, this is driving me nuts. I've been working on this for a few days now: I'm making an introduction for a video my 4th graders are going to make. The animation is just an intro I'm doing, not the whole movie. I watched the video "constraints and compensate mode" prior to doing this: 1. I made the two models. The idea is the eraser model is going to carry in models I made of of our textbooks. 2. The Eraser model has the Hash 2001 rig, and it works...that is a whole another story. 3. I made the path, and constrained it to the model of the book. 4. I added the action the model, and it works fine Now as the model walks, the book moves rather odd. Also when the model turns on a path....the book rotates. Do I have to key frame these changes to align the book? Am I missing a step?
-
Yes it does, thanks. I was checking out the links, very interesting stuff.
-
That helps a lot. I'm still getting the 2001 rig down. As always so much to learn. One thing I don't understand...for older models that don't work with the 2001 rig. Am I better off putting in the 2001 rig, or just making actions off the old rig?
-
Thanks Jim, I was worried that I had to start from scratch. I'm getting ready to upgrade to v14 and I'm thinking....more books and more new things to learn? Thanks Andy

I've been reading about everyone working with a Squench rig? I'm just getting used to the 2001. Is this a whole new learning process?
-
Hello, I've been working a lot on the 2001 rig, now I have been reading about a squetch rigg? What is this? Is this only with the V14? Do I have to relearn everything?

Techniques, Software, etc for making a long clip or movie
bighop replied to Jentham2000's topic in New Users
I prefer to use a separate editor. Clips can be imported, and you can layer sound. That's just me. -
Hello, I know this have been covered before, but I'm not getting it. I followed the tutorial several times, but it does not work for me. I made a simple model. I followed the steps for bounding the bones. But when I apply an action to it, it freaks out! Does v14 resolve any of this? I know I must be missing something, but I have no idea what. Any help would be great! **The biggest problem is the legs, the knees bend backwards. I didn't rotate any bones, so I don't know how that could happen.
-
Good to know, thanks. What does the base do?
-
Ok, I feel dumb. I found a set up under the rig's pose sliders. Now...new question...what does the base do?
-
Hello all, I made a simple model, not so simple that I couldn't apply the 2001 rig to it. I'm using v13. I assigned all the bones, but the leg and foot bones disappear when I try to make an action. Also, the "Hip orientate" does not seem to stay with the leg bones, is it suppose to? Is there any other option other then rigging again?

I trashed the models and started again. I think I should have just made a blank book model. Opened that and saved it as a different book. When I did three "Save As" I think it messed things up. Thanks for all the help!

A picture would help. The camera needs to be set for accepting all the light. I can't remember the exact setting, I'm at work now, but the camera should take in all ambient light... or something like that. The rest of the light for the scene should be done as it was when the shot was taken. Also, you want the fall out for the shadows. If it is the fallout for the lights, try to match a white in the scene. This will give it a more realistic lighting look as to the color of the image. When rendering, add a little motion blur. This will help blend the image. Not too much! I'll try to look for the camera setting tonight. I did this with a still shot and the "Fat Guy" Model here: http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=29720 Andy

I made the model with in a project. Does that matter? I ended up deleting the model and staring over in a new project. I'm at work now. So I have to wait to see if it work when I get home. Thanks for the info
