  1. Hello All, I've been trying to save an image with an Alpha channel, bring it into AM and loose the black background. I think I finally did it. I created a set of directions, so far this process has worked for me. If anyone knows of an easier method, please let me know. Andy leaf.mov Alpha_channel_directions.pdf
  2. I'm making a palm tree....one of the tutorials on my DVD, anyway, I got the cookie cut to work, but there is a faint outline of the square tar. file. Also, after making the tar with the alpha channel in photoshop, the color is gone. I know I must be missing something here.
  3. Do you know what is new in this update? I have V13 and I'm getting ready to update too. I can't find anything one what is new with this version.

    Libraries

Be careful when linking different libraries.....I messed up my program and had to reload. I think I'll leave the programing to the pros.
  5. I know that is not a standard thing. I was tried of the CD spinning so much. I'll reinstall, I'm sure it will work.
  6. Thanks, I'm a Mac user....I should have mentioned that. I think I will toss the old file and just reinstall. Does the library file point to the program file on my computer, or the CD? Because What I did was toast the CD and made a Disc Image. Once the Disc image is mounted, it acts like a CD. That way I can open other CD's while the program is running. I don't know if that messed up things. I'm getting ready to order the upgrade, I have AM 2006....is there a list of what is new on this version? Thanks for the help Andy
  7. I think I screwed up my copy of AM. I copied the "Extra CD" file, and set up the options to make a library path to the library of the CD. I went through set up the library to the program file that installed on my hard drive. Now I don't have the plug-ins option on many of the menus. For example, I don't have the plug-ins and wizards anymore. Do I have to reinstall the program? And if so, Should I delete the program folder before I do? I should have left well enough alone!
  8. Thanks. I've been looking through the models that come with AM. They use some Legacy Bump too. I think I'm looking for the exact rule, and there is none, it's whatever works!
  9. As I use this program more, I start asking more questions! So are you better off to just decal instead of Bump map or will the Bump map look better? (I can see the results with a decal, I have to render the model to see the Bump map) Also, when I start making animations, will a model with a decal render faster then a model with Bump Maps? I hate to finish a model to find out ..I should have done this....
  10. I was trying to add a materal to the ground without any luck. 1. I dragged the materal to the ground in the object menu 2. The ground darkened, but did not change. I also noticed that when I add a materal to an object, it doesn't show until I render it. I have a Mac, with a 733 processer. Am I missing a setting or something? Thanks for any help! Andy
  11. Thanks, That would have saved me a lot of time! I use my image as a rotoscope and patched until I covered the whole thing!
  12. I email this to HASH Tech support....they told me to post it here. I saw an example someone did where the whole scene was rendered to white. All the parts, walls, floor...etc. I didn't know if that was something done in the render mode, or was each piece textured to white. Thanks!
  13. Well this is better. I made him a little taller, but you have to remember I'm 6'3, and I know Homer is not. I don't know what the artifacts are around the mouth, more to work on. I just set up a new Chr. and everything worked.
  14. I think you are right, and I think what I did is change too many things at once. I'm setting up a new Cho and trying again.
  15. I've been trying to render this thing but it keeps looking a cartoon. No, I'm not rendering in Toon, and the Toon lines are off in the model. Any ideas anyone?
  16. I'll give that a try, and yes I copied the idea from Victor. Thanks
  17. Hello again, Here is what I got(S). 1. I took a grid and decaled a picture of me on my deck. 2. I cut myself out of the picture and created a grid to match the shape, and decaled myself on it. 3. I set up a choreography with the complete backdrop (number one), the homer model in front, and my cutout in front of that. 4. I set the camera, angles, etc. 5. Lights...I cut all but the key, and made it a cone, the sun was way too much. Problem, I can't get Homer, or the background to look right, they both seemed washed out. I attached pics, any ideas would be great. I don't know if I should be adjusting the lights, or making some changes in the models (homer, or the background.
  18. Ok, I am having a hard time with this one. I'm trying to make a cut out of a person and decal them on a plane. 1. I cut the image out in photoshop.(not sure what is the best for saving) 2. I want to put the person on a cutout that is the exact shape of the decal. (I'm using it as a prop) 3. Do I have to model the shape, which is taking forever, or can I put the decal on a plane, and get rid of the white background?

    Libraries

I keep getting another library added. I don't know how I create a file called library.lbr. These are the screen grabs from my files
  20. Hello, I was trying to follow this tutorial: http://hash.com/lib/mac.html and I'm not having much luck. I'm using a Macintosh, and I wanted my libraries to all show up in my library file. So I tried this, the HASH library shows, but mine and the one on the extra CD does not. Anyone ever try this? Thanks Andy
  21. I've tried doing this too and have not had much success. Here is a tutorial about doing just that. When I tried to import my video, just one picture came in. I never tried to put it between the camera and the ground. http://www.hash.com/users/ed/tutorials/fpm/fpm.htm Read that over. Andy
  22. That does help. I wasn't in the "Object" mode. I feel rather dumb about that. Thanks,
  23. Thanks for the reply, I think I'm going nuts, the "Type" does not appear anywhere. Is this feature not in Mac side? Or Maybe I need to update to AM2007.
  24. Hello everyone, I am going nuts over this: I put some lights in, and I want to switch what type of light it is. There is no option in the properties menu to change the light type. There is Animate Mode, and Width. The Type is just not there. I am using a Mac, and I'm running 10.4, with Animation Master 2006, with the latest update. Any ideas would help!
  25. I found that embedding the file first, then saving seems to work. Are we (anyone using AM) suppose to make a project folder, and place copies of all the related files in it? Will that cause more problems or help with any of this? Just wondering. PS: Does anyone find that reading about "Constraints" and "Relationships" a little on the dry side? It seems hard to stay focused. Maybe I'm ADD!
