  1. The problem is I click "OK" and the program quits.
  2. I build a model for a book. I then did a save as, so I could use the base model for other books. I got this message:
  3. Did you resolve the import issue? I'm upgrading to V14 and I always use a mac!
  4. I'm getting ready to upgrade to V14. Does anyone know what formats can be exported?
  5. Thanks for all the replies! I rebuild the model with much less splines and it works just fine. So I guess less is more with this program? I don't know if there is a hard set rule, or rules of thumb to keep in mind when modeling. Thanks again everyone.
  6. Rusty: I had so many patches for two reasons....One I was trying to get the book to have the over hang that the cover places over the pages. The book is hard cover, and as of now will not open. The other reason is simple....I don't have a good grasp on modeling an object. I haven't tried layers. So maybe too many patches is not a good thing. Ken: I haven't tried applying another image. I may give this another shot with less patches to see if that clears things up. Thanks for the input, as always this form is a good help!
  7. It tried that....at least I think I did. I selected the four points that make up that patch, and right clicked to Flip Normals. I have a lot of patches on this model....is too much the cause?
  8. Well I have another decal question. I made a model of a math book I use at my school. Another model I made will carry it. The model has patterns from the surface color breaking through. I need the surface color to match the decal. Any suggestions?
  9. Two things come to mind: 1. Is the image set to color? 2. Did you hide the 5 sides of eh cube when you were applying the decals? Thanks all I can think of. Hope that helps, Andy
  10. Hey Rusty, I just checked out that Book from my local Library. That is one good resource! Thanks!
  11. GOT IT! I finally figured it out! The stride length for the BACK was off, this was causing a two frame slip. I was adjusting the front. what a pain! Now I know.
  12. I had to do this in two uploads......I can't load up the actions!
  13. Here are the files. It still slips for two frames. Thanks Andy Room112_bug_final.mdl
  14. Will I was trying to avoid this......here is the project file. Thanks, odd_walk.prj
  15. Great tips, thanks. I double checked that but still it slips. The character walks, but at the end of every walk it glides for two frames and the walk continues. Again it is very slight, just enough to make look at it and go...hmmmmm
  16. Hello All, I made a simple character consisting of pieces of chalk and a chalkboard eraser. I'm a teacher and I'm using this as a "Bug" intro to a video my class will be doing later this year. Anyway... I created a simple walk cycle 24 frames. I made a path and constrained the eraser to it Assigned the action. Extended the Cycle length to 15 seconds The character walks ok, but it will glide for about two frames at the end of the cycle, and return to his walk cycle and glide at the end again. I did set the stride length, but I must be missing something. It's bugging me because when the character walks, you can see there is just something not right, because the glide is very slight. Any ideas anyone? Thanks
  17. That T-rex looks cool! I have version AM version 13. The only thing close on the extra's CD is the Terrordactyl. I also have the Siggraph 2005 training CD, and it is also not on there. I've also hunted around the FTP site without any luck. I know building the T-rex would be a good learning experience, but I'm just being lazy.
  18. Hello everyone. I'm looking for a t-rex model. All the one's I've seen are 3DS or some other program. I don't want to pay $60 bucks for a model that won't import into AM. I don't mind buying a good model. I'm not good enough to make one...yet. Anyone know of any AM T-Rex's out there? Thanks
  19. Thanks!
  20. The reflection off the picture is just a transparent square grid, with the reflection boosted up to about 60 % or so. I had a hard time matching the modeling with the room. The model of the room (I also modeled the shelves so the shadow would kick around them) are square, but the picture isn't. So minor adjustments had to be made. There were three lights: The main light, which made the shadow, A secondary light that represented the light in the room. And two kicker lights that represented the hallway light and the light in the next room. The positive remarks here have been nice, THANKS!
  21. That was a photograph used as a rotoscope in the camera. I would live a 3CCD camera too.
  22. Thanks. It was a whole learning experience just doing one little clip.
  23. Hey everyone, This is my first attempt to add AM to live action. I followed the Sam Buntrock CD's, it's a good guide. Homer_in_my_house.mov

    Crazy

I did just that, saved the program, restarted it and it works now. I don't get that one at all. Thanks for the help. I'm finally close to finishing my first 15 second clip!

This is driving me nuts. I set up a new choreography, added elements, lights, characters, etc. Did the animation, now I want to make changes and nothing will let me select it. Nothing is locked, I can't change anything. Does this mean the file went bad?
