try putting down multiple letters and see what you get, if you don't like it do it again... as of a star patch, its when you have a cp in the middle and multiple splines going outward to other cps. a patch like that causes creasing....

one ore thing too, i thought of a way to make the shyguys more realistic. i rememberd that in the new super smash bros game coming out marios clothe are more textured than in past games his overalls actualy looked like jeans more than rubber. what you need to do is make the shyguys cloaks look like a fabric using a texture, and have there mask look more plastic and the belt look like a real belt. and the buckle look metallic(thats the only thing that should look metallic).

also i have some plugins i can link too http://www.darksim.com/html/simbiontam.html http://www.kci-group.com/z/plugins.htm http://www.kci-group.com/z/index.htm

the pole in the middle should be bigger. and i under stand you wanted realism, but metallic isn't the way to go, a shyguy isn't a character you can make realistic easily. what you need to do to get it real looking is to learn lighting(and not the setup thats already there), you can keep the model smooth and cartoony looking but it can be presented to work in a real world back ground. here are some links, study them a bit. http://www.ypoart.com/tutorials/skylights-intro.htm http://newtek.com/products/lightwave/tutor...-002/index.html http://www.ypoart.com/tutorials/Photon-Mapping.htm http://www.andrew-whitehurst.net/3point.html http://www.andrew-whitehurst.net/fx_light.html i hope these help, but befor you start on testing lighting finish the shy guy the right way first....ok?

hey, I'd like to point out that I've actually tied several 3-d software demos. each one i got bored(low attention span) trying to figure out how to model use materials etc. and having to read all that stuff in the help file. all of it was really hard to do. then i found A:M i was skeptical at first because all the other programs i had use were hard to do. the lady that was there said that i could surly get the hang of it. so i got my mom to buy it and she did. i didn't get to use it for 3 month after that(i had school and my mom didn't want A:M to interfere), and man was i anticipating summer. to pass the time i skanned manual dayly never actualy reading it(i did it when mom wasn't home), it looked awsem i was able to under stand it and every thing! so once summer came i put it in for the first time installed it and looked around a bit. then i started fiddling with it, i discovered what lathe was and ended up making a apple(in shape).but this was before i knew what a group was and had 3 models one for the apple one for the stem and one for the leaf. i then found out how to toon render which was some thing that interested me allot.i found the choreography and made my first setup and rendered my first scene. and guess what this was all before i even actually read the manual!!!! after than i was completely in to it. there a 12 year old on this site that uses A:M very well. i'm 15 and use it well too heres my site. if i and he can do it any one can. http://www.wolfworks.co.nr

dude that shy guys is actualy way off, don't use the gba same a rotospope. here, these are some expamples of what i'm talking about. just to let you know your render should be more cartoony than realistic, it looked like you were doing for a metal look or some thing. need any help?

from what i know modern houses are basicly a mess of themes each room is dedicated to a certain color or place(china, Australia, etc.). the room you doing is the living room right? the walls should directly match or be the same color as the furniture.
-
well the shy guys mask, it doesn't need to be connected to the face, nor do the feet. even the band doesn't need to be connected to the mask.but there are no short cuts possible on the body. try drawing a side and front view of the shy guy
-
dude you so freaking rock!!!! mustangs are my favorite cars!!!!!!!!
-
the shy guy should be easy, just remember modeling is about taking as many shortcuts as you can and have your model and/or render still looking great.
