  1. It IS a "papasan" chair, with kudzu leaves matted together to make a cushion. The part that supports the chair rising from the platform should be rings, not straight sections (as are the parts of the seat). I pictured the deck as rectangular--just a lashed together platform on supports, with a ladder. I wanted to have the Loon area draped with Kudzu vines, and have the furniture and any dwellings have a "jungle" theme.
  2. Actually, this agency was searching on the internet for Kong images for a couple of ads for a cinema chain in Germany. and they came across that Kong vs Terrordactyl picture through the power of Google... So they called and asked if I could do the illustrations. I did one other version beyond these two, the backgrounds aren't part of it because there is some kind of graphic thing going on there. I had to do the final render over 4,000 pixels wide!!! [set your paging file as high as it will go...]
  3. Kewl! I'd like to hear more too! "bitmap style" is that part of sweeper? something new? what is that?
  4. Mark has agreed! We will have some awsome fountains in OZ!
  5. I've watched that water show at the Bellagio, and you really recreated the mood wonderfully! I would also like to join Nancy and invite you to help us on the Oz movie--we want to have lots of fountains in the Tin Emporer's palace grounds. Your help would be very much appreciated.
  6. The Christmas tree was a separate picture (Yes the Ape should be reflected in the plane (in a perfect world))
  7. I used the 35mm preset. I think it is for a magazine ad (I was given a .pdf mock-up of the layout, but all of the copy was in German, so I'm not sure exactly what it was for). The airplane was just a .3ds model I bought online that I composited in Photoshop. I had some issues with the render crashing that Noel helped me solve--It was related to running out of virtual memory, not A:M... TIP: set your Windows paging file as high as it will let you
  8. This is part of a commission I did this week for a company in Germany. THe Ape and plane are just part of an ad--I just cropped it to make a wallpaper
  9. Good point--bevels would be a waste of time for toon shading to look like the reference. Am I the only person that thinks that there is too much obsessive beveling? throw some chamfers on those edges for a change!!! ;P
  10. I will be there Saturday! [edit] No, I won't
  11. I don't see DragonCon on the calendar--are you sure Hash is going to be there?
  12. here is the changed project, you can see it better there of course drops3.prj
  13. Sevenar, I think while they fall realistically, they don't look like raindrops--plus I can imagine that it will be quite a chore to deal will many, compared to blobbies or streaks (both of which can bounce and slide down the object). I used your project to make this streaks version. you should be able to see some of the streaks bouncing and sliding off of the object. RAIN2.mov
  14. You can select the patches in the UV editor for the stamp of the bump map and use the rotate tool to alter the decal alignment. Great model!
  15. Thanks to everyone who participated in the "Pass the Ball" project! Here it is: http://www.zandoria.com/images/Movies/PTB6-26-05.mov I'm making DVDs to send you guys, they should go out next week
  16. I can try to make it down from DC... Any non-holiday weekend is fine by me! Holy crap--that is a long way to go for one of these get togethers!
  17. Blobby particles ARE the same thing as the metaball object that you are wishing for. What you REALLY are looking for is Fluid dynamics, like exist for some other softwares. The positions and motion of thousands of particles are computed inside a volume during a simulation, and an IMPLICIT SURFACE is calculated at the boundary of the particles. That implicit surface is what is given surface attributes of water( transparency, reflectivity, refraction) and then rendered.
  18. Great Tutorial! Thanks for taking the time to do this!
  19. Great picture Patrick! The reflection of the cat on the floor looks too bright...I'm guessing you didn't use blended reflection there? Great robot--I can't wait to see some wire frames. Did you use the .ai wizard to do some of those shapes?
