  1. My only real crit is that it seems awfully bright in the middle of the image. You loose one set of the landing gear on the forward plane. It might be a little more dramatic if you messed with the lighting a bit more. Effects will add to it so I will crit again later once you add them.(I saw in your post that you are adding them) You might want to try looking at some films for added inspiration. Hope this helps Leo
  2. Eric, Welcome to the forums. To run the program you need the disc in your drive. That is a security feature that Hash has. When you open the program it sounds like there is no project open. Just goto Projects and open whatever you want or goto File and select new and select model, chor, etc. It's a little hard to understand without a screen cap. Hope this helps Leo
  3. Hey Bob, There is a setting that you can use in your controls. Goto My Controls which is at top of screen. Then you want to goto options at the bottom left and check email settings. I am attaching a pic. Check the box that I have X'ed and you will receive emails whenever you start a thread or reply in a thread. If you have any problems feel free to pm me Leo [attachmentid=15092]
  4. Griffin, From what I remember of the v11 Tech Manual, it was just that. The book that came with the software has the tutorials in it and will be big help to you. You can do them and even get a certificate for finishing them. You just do the exercises and post it in that thread. There is also the Animation Boot Camp thread. That has more exercises to further your animation skills, but I would do the tutorials in the book first. The bootcamps require that you know your way around Hash. Another good book to get is The Animator's Survival Kit. It is a great book that breaks down everything and is very helpful. Hopes this helps and welcome to the forums, Leo
  5. Hey Don, Welcome to the forum. I know what you mean about taking your time with Hash. I have been following AM since 2001 amd finally bought it in 2004, but didnt start seriously working with it until late 05. Leo
  6. Hey Chris, Welcome to the forums. I have had this program for quite a while and simply love it. I was trained in other 3D programs but I find this one to better. You should check out the The Art of Animation Thread and exercises as well as the bootcamps. They are great threads to get ahead and learn the finer points of animation. Once again welcome, Leo
  7. Welcome Marni, I joined with everyone else in saying welcome to the forums. Like you I have had animation training although I was in 3d. I found that not only is AM priced well but it is definitely one of the most powerful programs that I have used. The boards here are packed with really talented people so you will not have a problem finding help if you need it. Again welcome aboard, Leo
  8. Hey Bob, Glad to see that you came back to Hash. I recently completed my certficiate and am now working on the Bootcamps. There are great exercises to further you understanding of animation (or in my case to knock the rust off) The big thing that I can suggest is to not let your self get discouraged. That's why I love these forums, if you have any questions, concerns, or need to vent this is a great place to do it. There are loads of talented people here and everyone looks after one another. My first daughter is due to be born in May so I am pretty excited about that. Good luck with your cert and hope to see you on the boards. Leo
  9. The spline that you circled is called a hook. You can add them at 1/2, 1/4, or 3/4 of splines. You can use them to define detail but at the same time you don't have to continue on with the spline. Hope that helps Leo
  10. Loved it. Especially the end where he rolls with it and the weight rolls over him. Are you doing the Animation Mentor program, because I get the impression cause the character looks like one they use. I myself am getting ready to apply for the summer term of this year. I really want to hone my character animation skills. Once again great job You nailed that one.
  11. Thanks WillP, I am actually still using 11.0t at the moment. I am ordering the update later this week. I am hoping that will clear this problem up. Thanks again, Leo
  12. I am having a problem now where whenever I try to open a project while in the program it just causes the program to shut down completely. Is there some feature or button that I can check to keep this from happening. It is quite fustrating when I am working and just want to check other files as I save multiple files when working on stuff. I was taught to always save in increments. Thanks, Leo
  13. Throw my name into the hat too Rodney
  14. Just looked through the new manual and cant wait to get to the hairless wookiee. I also dled the data, but do not know where to install it. Any suggestions? Leo
