Hi John! I went through this thread with a lot of fun. Every aspect of your work is delightful. Very funny characters, beautifully simple environement, lighted perfectly, and the litttle guy did not like your script but i do. I look forward to seeing more.
  3. Thank you vegprime! Yes the modeling tutorial by Bill Young is very helpfull. My character had pretty much the same look before but did not have really good splinage for believable animation. You learn good modeling techniques aimed at animation. Thank you for watching Justin! I think i have the bad habit of toning down animation(not only lipsync) as i work each passes.I also wonder if it is a bad idea to lipsync your own voice when your are a bad comedian. Try to make it almost so that we could read his lips and know what he is saying without hearing the audio
  4. Hi! i am posting a test with a character i had abandonned awhile ago. I decided to rework the head after buying the excellent face bundle from Anzovin (building, rigging and animating a face cd's). It is the same text in french that i posted a few months ago. You can still judge of the lipsync and attitude of the character even if you don't understand the words, i think (Justin Barrett made a very good tutorial in italian). Thank you for viewing! http://www.cam.org/~mgigue/lipsync%20test.mov
  5. Great hero! He has lots of personality. I like the slightly exagerated proportions of your character. And he should be fun to animate with that very nice mesh. Michel
  6. Hi Josema! I like your composition. I think it is a very well done so far. It approaches what many illustrators do with paper. Nice harmonious colors. I was going to say it looked appropriate for a book cover, but you did not tell us what kind of book it was. Keep us posted.
  7. Hi Xtaz! Beautiful scene! Amazing modeling, colouring and lighting. I love your trees as well. Michel
  8. Truly beautiful work, Frank! I love the surrealistic look in your characters. They have a very good organic touch as well (sexiest grass i ever seen). I see them as a family where Wenne the crazy teenager is trying to convince papa that wearing clothes is cool. Nice textures, good staging! Michel
  9. Hi Dalemation! Your little guy is getting really good. I prefer the colors you are using now, because we are now more attracted by his eyes and face which shows lots of personality, actually the look of innocence we expect from a puppy. Have you tried to animate a 4legged character before? Very nice fur overall! The only little thing i would see, just my opinion, the hair seems too curly on the edges of the ears. Very good work!
  10. Thank you Vern! I like the "Burtonesque".(the spell check could not suggest anything better) The translation for the name of the show would be literally "Gossips first". So when i talked to him about partying, he told me it was all about journalist integrity, he was a terrain guy that would even drink alcool if there were gossips to report. He also told me (he is a mean guy sometimes) that you are not quite ready yet to use french for dating. Fun to read your comments! Michel
  11. Great work again Shaun! I remember your great cuckoo trailer. I look forward to seeing more. Just one opinion; since she wears glasses, i would like to see her look more through her glasses. It is not clear to me if she used her glasses or not. Not a crit, just a opinion. P.S. Have you watched the movie "Chicken run"? Keep fun and happy birthday!
  12. Thank you for watching! I know most people on the list don't speak french, but if i had registered my voice in english, it would have been so terrible you still would not understand what he says. To Steven: You are right for the contrast of the lips, and i have changed the color already since that render. The hands, i am still working on the modeling, i have not copied the left hand yet. I do have a hard time modeling nice cartooney hands like some of you guys achieve. Thank you for the tips! To Amar: Yes the dynamics are off. Actually that test was done in a earlier beta version, the hair was rendering pretty fast, but unfortunately with the new release the same settings won't work, for some reason i am trying to find. I will then try some dynamics, but i intend to keep his hair pretty stiff. Glad you liked it! Michel
  13. Hi hashers! I would like comments on a character i have been working on lately. I am beginning some test animation. Lip sync is not very acurate right now, but it was done more to check poses than making a believable sequence. http://www.cam.org/~mgigue/lespotins.mov Thank you!
  14. Thank you Rich! All tips are useful. A few exclamations makes you feel good too! Glad you liked it. Michel
  15. Hi Amar! I would maybe have one critic. Maybe the textures will clear this, but i tend to wonder if he is a boy with a moustache, or a grown up with a young body. Keep your original work.
  16. Hi Amar! I really like your character. He has great intriguing personality. I would love to hear him say something.
  17. Thank you Ross! I am pleased with your comments on camera. And your observations on animating will be very useful. As for the hands of the guitar player, and the hands of the piano player (I think there is even more work to be done there) i know there is much tuning to be done. I planned to fine tune the hands at last when i am sure of the posture. I agree with you for lack of energy. It is useful to read what strikes people first. The chick is a last minute character that will remain accessory. I also agree with you for the lighting, i am happy with it but it could more contrasted. To Parlo Thank you for your tips on compression. But i tried a few settings and i can not get decent file size.
  18. Thank you Tham Wrong and johnI 3D. To answer Tham Wrong. It has a finished look because I registered all the frames early in the process. I just rewrite over 50 frames here, 70 frames there. I work in AM with a single camera constrained to other cameras, so I get the same camera order working in AM than the final render. I could actually render an avi file in a single render in AM. I am not actually looking for a realistic look that much, but movement, balance and timing still have to be right. After looping the same music hundreds of time i tend to get hypnotized and have a hard time finding where the movement is way too slow or off with the music. What I was expecting is critics like "this looks right but the hands there are definetely off". I plan to work on it for one more month and I can' t look at it the same way you look at it for the first time. So don' t be afraid to say you don' t like this or that. Thank you for taking the time to watch.
  19. Hi Parlo! He is one the best good looking ugly guy i ever seen. With hands like that, he could become a very popular fellow.
  20. Hi hashers! I would appreciate some comments on a animation i am working on. It is my first big practice in animating. The scene, the lighting and the camera are done and i have been working for a while on the characters. There are 3 musicians playing a 1 minute song. I feel i need some comments and advices to go on. It is an avi file compressed with Divx, and it is 12.4 M. I tried compressing to quick time but I get huge files. I guess i need advice on compression as well. http://www.cam.org/~mgigue/backyard.avi
  21. Hi Parlo! I really like the personality of your character. I hope we will see him again (perhaps enjoying a good cup of coffee). I especially like his big hands. The left hand really drives the action in a convincing way.
