  1. Thanks Rodney and Robert ---thats sounds great then for me. After I get up to speed modeling and such and start trying to make some things that might take more render power I can always get another sub for another machine or two. Nothing to worry about to soon. have a ton of stuff to practice and learn. btw robert saw a little tutorial of yours searching through forums of making a beak of a bird --it was short but very informative......and made me think that the new TAoAM may be really something --if you were working on it. So thanks for all your support of AM . Same for you Rodney---you two are a mega responder in these forums indeed !!
  2. Well finally took the plunge and upgraded to ver 16 web sub from my old version 12 cd. My first impressions are very favorable. Everything seems faster, tighter , snappier. It feels very nice to use and renders seem faster indeed and have not even figured out net render yet. I even like not having to have the cd handy but will miss the functionality that brought. Anyhow the purchase and installation went super smooth! Maybe as I move past learning to producing I will face the idea of the more perm solution. I wondered if HASH Inc sold extensions to their versions in case someone was working a big project and did not want to risk a new version and their year was winding up .(Just a thought) Anyhow.....bought a few of Barry Zundel videos and between all the other resources-going to be busy learning--- also look forward to practicing on the new TAoAM whenever that rolls out too. but I am happy to be back again up to date and supporting the Hash folks at least a little. Rich
  3. Jason, With the library tut --I found it a little confusing when you were showing the broken links...it might be helpful if you fixed one? in the tutorial since you already had them on the screen this way folks who get unbroken links might see how easy or not it is to get things linked up again. The tutorial on the option tab was very helpful indeed. Rich
  4. Rodney--thanks for answers and will try to paragraph better. Rich
  5. Awesome Rodney--did not know about plugins being there ready in latest version am ----smiles. Yes qt pro looks like has benfits of use for sure. I do have Vegas on my main render machine which unfortunately having a either hard drive or mobo issue right this moment and actually Alot of my free time for 3d I need to do on my laptop. So was looking for a cheap easy solution to taking image sequences to be able make qt movies --if only to check out things quickly and if I got am 16 i would prefer to run as 64 bit ..my laptop does have 8gb ram so it may run nicer in 64 bit and I just have to work around the qt 64 bit issue by the ways provided in this thread... a quick other question about version 16 ---with net render as i surmise it will render to the other cores on your machine --so if its a quad core it will render on the four using the one chor--- or do you run like 4 seperate renders? as in frames 1-4 , 5-8, 9-12,13-16 as example ? and can it reach out over a network to other machines or just the one that has AM16 on it. Rich
  6. Thanks Phil comments and plugins link and rest of you guys -for feedback on the qt issues. Seems like its QT pro is a quick relatively inexpensive way to get to image sequences out of AM 64 bit. Thanks--Rich
  7. So ---I could render out image sequences in 64 bit AM and then import those into qt pro and then render out as MOV file. Is there are sense of ability to edit the files around in qt pro? Or are you just able to load a sequence..... I am not at all familiar with it. Rich
  8. thanks Fuchur-- Very helpful and I think you knew what 12 had pretty well indeed. And also thanks Mouseman---yes I know about that qt non 64 bit issue -----kind of stinks as is nice for quick renders to do in qt and see without having to deal with images sequences and vid editors ---and I have to look into getting a video editor ap that converts sequnces to qt or avi. as I do like working in 64 bit for 3d programs and will have to deal with 32 plugins I guess as needed. Rich
  9. Thanks for advice Phil--and indeed a 64 bit system....just wondered if there were any newer plugins that folks found very useful that might not have been around in version 12 days--- Rich
  10. Quick question as I am pondering upgrading right now to version 16 from 12 ---what is status of the usable plugins in version 16 compared to what I might have had in 12 . Thanks again for all the advice and help so far guys. Rich
  11. Yes ----smiles ----maybe if a suggested topic or wip or whatever was hinted to be a topic then more folks will get onboard. Certainly if a new TAoAM is done that could be a weekly chapter or chart session for sure and I would hope would get new users to participate in. I think that really makes it easy to participate in...If you have a chat session on advanced rigging topics for instance I for one would probably be lost and even if I joined would probably not say much-----smiles....but if i worked on a chapter of the new TAoAM I would almost certainly have things to say or questions to ask. So for me newbie subject matter makes me more participatory. As a suggestion --since I am and surely other newbies may be interested now in getting to be able to model and texture --It would be helpful to have like a small forum project to model. Then have the new folks try and model it the item and have some of the experts give some pointers or helping hints. Especially focusing on good practices and techniques. Rich
  12. Dizzifying indeed........but so inspiring to know what one can do with skill and effort. Rich
  13. awesome and amazing modeling !! --------kudos indeed! Rich
  14. Wow and more Wow.......very inspiring to see such great detail and care in your work..Amazing!
  15. Rodney-- I think the idea of community chats would be great to boost excitement for AM and help in the learning process and to build an even better community. I support this initiative completely Rich
  16. This was a great little project indeed--fun watching and inspirational for all I am sure. And nothing better to learn by then trying to complete a project with set parameters that force you to come up with solutions . So look forward to seeing a new community project. Have to get learning fast now.
