zandoriastudios Posted May 13, 2004 Posted May 13, 2004 Adding V11 hair to a revamped "FuFu" model. I'm really liking these new controls! Quote
J. Baker Posted May 13, 2004 Posted May 13, 2004 Cute...little...fury......dino........thingy. Nice work, I like it. Quote
Sharky Posted May 13, 2004 Posted May 13, 2004 Hi Mr. William Sutton! I like your model fully and I like your model's color in particular! I'm waiting your animation, in what this model will act! Sharky Quote
zandoriastudios Posted May 17, 2004 Author Posted May 17, 2004 New WIP. I finished rigging yesterday, I used the Hash2001 rig and the new CP Weight controls. I am totally blown-away by how easy the CP Weights are to set up! There is no smartskin or tweaking in the sholders and hips, the CP weights took care of it all! I do use an intermediate bone for the biceps and thigh. Parented to the shoulder and the pelvis, the intermediate is in the same location as the biceps and thigh and has an orient-like constraint--STORE ROLL OFF. The intermediate gets the controlpoints at the joint and that keeps them from getting twisted when the arm or leg twists. Quote
Sharky Posted May 17, 2004 Posted May 17, 2004 Hi Mr. William Sutton! It's model is very cute and nice! I like it! Can You show me some actions, where You use A:M weight? Can You write a small tutorial, where you write down What are "balance selected" or "balance connected" and How can you make this? Thanks before and I'm waiting your answer! Sharky Quote
zandoriastudios Posted May 17, 2004 Author Posted May 17, 2004 That is explained in the A:M Technical Reference (see link in my signature). or online at: http://www.hash.com/am2004/Modeling/CP%20Weights/index.htm Quote
Sharky Posted May 17, 2004 Posted May 17, 2004 Hi Mr. William Sutton! It is in my mind, but I can't buy it, because I live in Hungary! Sharky Quote

zandoriastudios Posted May 18, 2004 Author Posted May 18, 2004 I was having trouble tweaking the body fur to have the look I wanted, so I may use the Simbiont "Plush" material on the body instead of fur... Quote
Heiner Posted May 18, 2004 Posted May 18, 2004 The hair, the hair ... it is so great ... and so hard to master! I am currently working on a female character, which should a realistic hair when it is finished. My client gave a picture to me, how the hair should look like ... piece of cake i thought, now i am sitting here and trying to set up the hait correctly and all the time i am sying to myself: every barber in town must have attended university to archieve what they do all day :-) As you can see, waaaaaaay to go ... Cheers Heiner Quote
Sharky Posted May 18, 2004 Posted May 18, 2004 Hi! Thanks guys! I will check it! I think that the Fufu model is better with body fur! Sharky Quote
Sharky Posted May 18, 2004 Posted May 18, 2004 Hi Mr. William Sutton! Do you show me some wireframe picture about your model? What kind of facerig do you use it to lip sync? I'm waiting your actions about shoulder movement! Thanks before,Sharky Quote
zandoriastudios Posted May 20, 2004 Author Posted May 20, 2004 Here is the "feathery plume" that FuFus have on top of their head: Quote
J. Baker Posted May 20, 2004 Posted May 20, 2004 Reminds me of the FlintStones where they used animals as tools. In this case, you would have a duster. Nice work, I like your creativity. Quote
Sharky Posted May 20, 2004 Posted May 20, 2004 Hi Mr. William Sutton! It's a very nice work, I like it your model! He is wearing a beautifull extrem hair. Sharky Quote
dj_jonnyg Posted May 22, 2004 Posted May 22, 2004 Just out of curiosity, how did you like working with control poont weights? How does it compare to smartskin? And would you go back to using smartskin or is this it for you now? = ) Thanks! Jon BTW Awesome model. Quote
zandoriastudios Posted May 22, 2004 Author Posted May 22, 2004 The CP weights are amazing! eliminates the need for a lot of fan bones, or smartskin. I think smartskin is awsome too. but this crtainly does the bulk of the work, leaving smartskin for minor tweaks. Quote
zandoriastudios Posted May 22, 2004 Author Posted May 22, 2004 OK...Here is a mystery! I've got the feathery hair tweaked the way I want it to look--in progressive render mode, but it looks all black in final mode!?? Why is it so different? what do I need to do to change it? has anyone else seen this? Quote
MATrickz Posted May 22, 2004 Posted May 22, 2004 Man that character is so good , I really like the fur. Keep up the good work Quote
zandoriastudios Posted May 23, 2004 Author Posted May 23, 2004 I sent it in to Support, but I went in and took the transparency and brightness keyframes out of the emitter, and just use the alpha channel of the hair image to control tranparency and that worked... Now I have another issue where I have this character riding in a car that has a reflective surface on the body. I crash every time I try to render to file. I can turn either the FuFu or the car inactive and either will render to file. but if both objects are active it crashes... I sent that project into support as well. hopefully my client will be understanding of why I can't finish his project... I stayed up till 4:00am trying everything I could think of. Quote
Sharky Posted May 23, 2004 Posted May 23, 2004 Hi! It is very difficult for me! I can wish you good luck! Sharky Quote
KenH Posted May 23, 2004 Posted May 23, 2004 That hair looks great. Can't wait for the final render of it! Only one opinion....I'd make the shadow within the hair darker. Contrast is king! Quote
zacktaich Posted May 23, 2004 Posted May 23, 2004 leaving smartskin for minor tweaks. Smartskin is also great for muscle and skin deformations. If you want his muscles to buldge when he flexes his arm, smartskin is the best way to do it. Nice hair! Quote
zandoriastudios Posted May 31, 2004 Author Posted May 31, 2004 One of the bizarre requests from my client... The car is modified from the "carcuda" from the free models page. Quote
adamjames Posted May 31, 2004 Posted May 31, 2004 This is looking really great! The hair is amazing. Adam Quote
Admin Rodney Posted May 31, 2004 Admin Posted May 31, 2004 One of the bizarre requests from my client... Just rememeber Will... the customer is always right! HEHE! Lovely... just lovely! Quote
Sharky Posted June 1, 2004 Posted June 1, 2004 Hi! Looks good! Very nice work, I like it! Sharky Quote
mooncaine Posted July 1, 2004 Posted July 1, 2004 I'd pose Standing FuFu so that it leans a little farther forward -- in fact, I'd flex its body forward a bit at the hips. Even without the plume, Standing FuFu looks like s/he's leaning backwards, defying gravity a bit. Quote
Dearmad Posted July 1, 2004 Posted July 1, 2004 Ah... that final touch made the character for me! Quote
Admin Rodney Posted July 1, 2004 Admin Posted July 1, 2004 Since we managed to bring the FuFus back for awhile... Will, Have you done any more work with the FuFus? Was your client happy? Quote
HeadlessBill Posted July 1, 2004 Posted July 1, 2004 I still think we need the 'Balrog vs. Fufu' image. Quote
gazzamataz Posted July 2, 2004 Posted July 2, 2004 I still think we need the 'Balrog vs. Fufu' image. Now that would be interesting Will, is all this plumage done in AM 11? I must start using it if it is - does it make a nice job of leaves? Anyway - great stuff mate and even greater that you are actually doing profesional work with AM! Quote
Sharky Posted July 2, 2004 Posted July 2, 2004 Hi, When do you make the balrog picture in the bigger resolution? Please render it ,so that is showed full model! Thanks before, Sharky Quote
