a.quaihoi Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 Hi Guys, just noticed that importing images seems not working, I have a FX4800 using the Nvidia drivers and after update to 18p its not importing images, I'll try the mac native driver now and let you know . . . anyone come across this ? Before when it was buggy I found that if I toggle the open GL settings in options it would kick in but now . . hmmm . . let me have another crack Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted September 2, 2016 Hash Fellow Posted September 2, 2016 I dimly recall someone else having this problem and they were able to use v17 instead. You can run v17 with the same license you have now. Copy the master0.lic file from your v18 folder to your v17 folder. Quote
largento Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 Mac version of A:M won't import Jpegs. Change the file format to another option (I use png files). Quote
a.quaihoi Posted September 15, 2016 Author Posted September 15, 2016 Yes using old school Targa does the same thing . . . On importing rotoscope it comes in like this . . . If I go into Tools/Option/ Global and toggle the realtime driver from Open GL to Open GL 3 and visa versa then . . . . . . it suddenly loads the image and works normal, sometimes the image breaks and becomes garbled after a restart or after a crash, then usually have to toggle the open GL settings again and fiddle around until it comes back again, textures behave similar to this as well sometimes - any clues ? On mac we can change from Nvidia to Native Mac drivers for the video card but this doesn't seem to matter to this problem using either driver - any clues ? Quote
Admin Rodney Posted September 15, 2016 Admin Posted September 15, 2016 I'm not sure how this will work on the Mac but... a workaround might be to create a single patch and apply a patch image to that. Lock that down (so it won't interfere with your modeling) and the use that for your rotoscope. This also works well for those rare instances where you need a rotoscope at a specific angle instead of the cardinal directions that normal rotos are restricted to (top, bottom, right, left, front and back). With a patch roto you can also skew the roto Decals also work As a stand-in decal rotos work in instances where warping and distorting are called for... such as with caricatures. They also allow for use of any type of geometry. Or combine patch images with decals... You get the idea. If you haven't tried PNG as Mark suggests then you should definitely try that. Quote
a.quaihoi Posted September 15, 2016 Author Posted September 15, 2016 yes have tried png too, not being a nit pick but this was all working perfectly back in AM 95 - 98 ! lol I was like yes ! Thats how I want to decal and trace ! on the first day I got AM given to me by Dylan with no prior knowledge I produced 2 x 30 TVC's with character animation ! but these little annoyances now in 2016 is ummm . . . really annoying, I though AM would mature and get better with age ! largento Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 Pings have worked fine for me. I've been using the Mac version pretty steadily since 2007 and I can definitely say that A:M has improved. The hiccup with the Finder was a pain (the workaround has become a muscle memory now.)The JPEG thing is annoying, but the improvement in performance has been noticeable over the years. It is a port, though, so you can't really compare it to a native app. Quote
detbear Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 It seems quite concerning that functions like this don't work in the newest version. This should not be in V19. So I hope these things will be fixed. Relying on "Backdating" to a previous version more and more is concerning. New users running into these issues will get very frustrated. The last thing they want to do is to have to load other versions and to figure out how to multi- install. It is helpful to be able to step back and get the result from a previous version, but all I'm saying is that it should work in the newest release. Quote
a.quaihoi Posted September 16, 2016 Author Posted September 16, 2016 V19 fingers crossed, although I did end up finishing a super detailed model of a push bike today with a million crashes on mac, I was this " " close to setting up boot camp to install windows and install AM on windows again then I realised that it was too late, that I would have to email to get another serial key for windows as my mac subscription key wouldn't work and I had to finish the model by today / yesterday so I was like " i'm not going to let this crashing beat me " . . . and so the project was completed, oh and I have a lot of things to note which are doing all sorts of things on mac . . . more soon Quote
a.quaihoi Posted April 16, 2017 Author Posted April 16, 2017 Am 18p on Win 7 running on Mac Pro 3,1 through bootcamp with Nvidia Quadro FX4800 working perfect wit rotoscope and texture rendering Quote
