stefff285 Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 hi all as you know in other topics, i actually haven't the time to play with this wonderfull software to be clear i go make animation with, i bought it for because i think it is the software power but to be clear also, the render seems to be old, gives me the watch of plastic or else. no way to change to blender which is too complicated for me but perhaps do you use in animated shorts some external renderer wich don't consume to much time to render some frames ? anyway i go soon learn it and i am happy to be of yours, because of the good persons i met here and the software abilities regards Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted September 28, 2015 Hash Fellow Posted September 28, 2015 I'm not sure what your question is. What material are you wanting to make? Quote
stefff285 Posted September 28, 2015 Author Posted September 28, 2015 hello robcat i was simple asking if sometimes you need external renderers ? actually i have to test and learn from tutorials thanx a lot Quote
Admin Rodney Posted September 28, 2015 Admin Posted September 28, 2015 If you look at the variety of render styles that have been used before in A:M you'll see that (for most people) external renderers aren't necessary. Perhaps you can point us to an image of the style you want to achieve? If you haven't visited there yet, here's a link to the A:M Stills Gallery. Quote

Fuchur Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 You may want to check out the last image in this collection. (just in case you are wondering: Each is rendererd in A:M) http://best-of-am.patchwork3d.de/ See you*Fuchur* Quote
stefff285 Posted September 28, 2015 Author Posted September 28, 2015 hello fuchur how are you ? i particulary like the render of this one does it necessite some ajustments ? i just owned some 2.1go textures which steam for most, yes animation master is a wonderfull piece of sofware, be sure i will re rent the sofware for a year actually so many projects but how do you think this wonderfull render had been done ? radiosity ? ambiant occusion ? i go put my pencil on paper tomorrow to make my 20 pages cartoon and after YES i will try all my best in A:M which works fine under wine 32 on linux so many regards to you steff Quote
Fuchur Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 I don't think this uses Radiosity at all (I am not exactly sure if AO was used, but it really is only adding a little bit to an otherwise very nicely lightened scene). This is just the result of great composition, a little postproduction work and nice textures, lightening and models. It is a very nice (maybe one of the nicest renderings I've seen) rendering from bugbrain-studios out of their shortfilm "Chicory 'n Coffee". -> http://www.bugbrain.com/chicory/ Quote
stefff285 Posted September 28, 2015 Author Posted September 28, 2015 hello fuchur the amount of work is awesome ! yes i particulary love this kind of 3d thanx for sharing have a good night stéphane Quote
NancyGormezano Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 My absolute all time favorite rendering from A:M. Gorgeous artistry. Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted September 28, 2015 Hash Fellow Posted September 28, 2015 I'm sure the clouds in the background and the distant mountains are something they either painted or photographed but all the rest is good A:M work. Quote
stefff285 Posted September 29, 2015 Author Posted September 29, 2015 ok i'm in !! i go learn soon thanx a lot all !!!! stéphane Quote
ypoissant Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 Having good textures plays just a small role in creating good materials. For example, if you take the default material and slap a good wood texture, you will get a plastic with a wood texture. Textures only describe the spatial distribution of the reflectance of the material. The other material properties such as diffuse, specularity, etc., help describe the directional distribution of the reflectance. If you want to avoid the plastic look, you need to experiment with those other properties. Chiccory and Coffee did not use radiosity. Quote
stefff285 Posted September 30, 2015 Author Posted September 30, 2015 hello yves ok i have to explore more in this way i understand what you say because i often have to read same advices in blender communauty. the fact is 3d isn't easy but i will give the time to experiment thanx a lot Quote
stefff285 Posted October 22, 2015 Author Posted October 22, 2015 hi all ! how are you ? to be correct i haven't right now yet the time to investigate a:m but soon, in one month i thin i have a question for you: how to make normal maps from blender for example and put it in render ? scult mode interests me too regards to you steff Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted October 22, 2015 Hash Fellow Posted October 22, 2015 A:M can use normal maps. I don't know enough about Blender to answer the "from Blender" part. Quote
stefff285 Posted October 23, 2015 Author Posted October 23, 2015 hello robcat ok i go begin first and see after thanx Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted October 23, 2015 Hash Fellow Posted October 23, 2015 After you apply a decal in A:M, "Normal" is one of many choices you can set the "Type" to... Quote
stefff285 Posted October 23, 2015 Author Posted October 23, 2015 ok ! great so make the scult under blender, bake it and export to a:m and put it on this layer ? great thanx a lot Quote
