The trends are changing.

I am about to start a new company with a new logo. SHould I go with my original design the glossy 3D look or the flat toon clip art look.

the flat one. you could go with glossy 3D too, but get rid of those ugly bevels around the font (this is a no-go in logo-design). and if you go with glossy 3D, you might want to rethink the font at all. something more clean will work better with a glossy 3D cube.

I suppose in this day and age, it's less important, but traditionally, you want there to be a version of your logo that works with a single ink.

My suggestion would be to create an illustrated cube that looks glossy. That way you could use your fancy one on a website or in 4-color, but have a cube that also works with 1 or 2 colors.

There's waaaaay too much space between the two words. Personally, I prefer tighter kerning, but the ocean you have between the two words becomes the focal point for my eyes.

I like the second one but think the blurry indentation at the top could go away.

It looks a bit more like a smudge than an indentation.

I almost went with the flat because of that.

As the letters are embedded, the cube could simply be embedded in a slightly different way.

Or... for all intents and purposes... simply floating above the text.

Shouldn't something called "Glossy Cube" have a glossy cube somewhere?

I recall Judy Garland telling about a new hair dresser she got and the first thing he told her was "I have to make you not look like Judy Garland!"

And she says, "Well, shouldn't I look at least a little bit like Judy Garland?"

just a few ideas, had to get them out of my head. thinking inside the box ;)

One variation i'd suggest is to have GLOSSY and CUBE wrap across the front corner rather than each be split on two lines within one face.

i had it like this initially, but the word glossy was stretched too much in the y-axis and was getting really hard to read...
