johnl3d Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 tried to get sphere to roll down ramp newtintest17c.mov newtonfalltest.zip project file Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted December 3, 2012 Hash Fellow Posted December 3, 2012 Do you mean "Not working right"? I just tried it in v16 and it doesn't work there. Could there be something wrong with the Project? Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted December 3, 2012 Hash Fellow Posted December 3, 2012 I had slightly better luck when I turned the normals of the trough to face in, but it still didn't stay on top of the trough all the way down. Quote
johnl3d Posted December 3, 2012 Author Posted December 3, 2012 Meant for it to be a question anyway I tried various ways all with weird results it might be that newton does not react to a ramp Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted December 3, 2012 Hash Fellow Posted December 3, 2012 There should be a way to make that work. Quote
Fuchur Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 There should be a way to make that work. Make sure the normals are facing the right way and that your ramp has a real thickness. You can just extrude it and it should work at least in a better way. I attached the modified project, which works much better. I am not sure if it works perfectly because it is not spinning at the beginning, but it reacts to the underground in a better way. See you *Fuchur* newtonfalltest_2.prj Quote
johnl3d Posted December 4, 2012 Author Posted December 4, 2012 That worked better but the ball does not roll and that is what I was hoping it would do ..Thanks for looking Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted December 4, 2012 Hash Fellow Posted December 4, 2012 Is it because the bone is not at the center? Quote
Developer yoda64 Posted December 4, 2012 Developer Posted December 4, 2012 Robert has hit the point, the real problem here is , that the model bone is not centered at 0,0,0 in the model . The model rotate around the center of this bone . The second problem was the false normals for the grid. I have attached a corrected project file newtonfalltest_corrected.prj Quote
johnl3d Posted December 5, 2012 Author Posted December 5, 2012 Thank you ...now we can roll out a snow ball or two ..... quick test of idea untitled.mov newtonfalltest_correcteda.zip Quote
