mtpeak2 Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 It appears adding the limit constraints in the chor will fix it (I only tested it on a few models though). I would need SVN access to fix it in the updated project or someone elso will need to fix it. Quote
mouseman Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 I would need SVN access to fix it in the updated project or someone elso will need to fix it. I sent you the info last night. Let me know if you didn't get it or it doesn't work. mouse at intranet dot org Quote
mtpeak2 Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 I got the info, I need to install SVN on this computer. I probably won't be able to get anything done til the weekend. Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted February 17, 2012 Author Hash Fellow Posted February 17, 2012 Hey, Mark, if you haven't been able to get to it yet, table that. I'll do a fix here and see if we can get this whole thing out the door by next week. Quote
mtpeak2 Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 Go for it Robert. I was extremely ill yesterday and I don't know what today will be like. I'm not up to doing much of anything today. Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted February 21, 2012 Author Hash Fellow Posted February 21, 2012 Any progress on the set front? I am indeed working on it. Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted February 22, 2012 Author Hash Fellow Posted February 22, 2012 Another thing I notice with these Action Object Blinds is that they will be visible in director mode but if i go to skeletal mode (to see the control to raise or lower them) they are only visible in wireframe and not in shaded mode. Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted February 25, 2012 Author Hash Fellow Posted February 25, 2012 What was the intended purpose of the Euler limits on the rolling Shade control? Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted February 26, 2012 Author Hash Fellow Posted February 26, 2012 Getting closer... are the glass doors supposed to have a shade on them? Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted February 27, 2012 Author Hash Fellow Posted February 27, 2012 This is odd. Here's a side by side with two windows looking at the same part of the building. The one on the left is in Director mode and you can see the shade and blinds inserted in the windows. The one on the right is in Skeletal mode and the shade and blinds are not visible from this side (looking through the glass) but are visible from the other side. It must be something to do with that transparent glass. Quote
mouseman Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Try hitting page up/page down and see if that makes a difference. Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted February 27, 2012 Author Hash Fellow Posted February 27, 2012 Try hitting page up/page down and see if that makes a difference. Nope. But it cost me nothing to try! Quote
mouseman Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Nope. But it cost me nothing to try!Be careful, my next suggestion will cost double that, and so on. All part of my diabolical plan to get rich. Am I a genius or what? Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted March 2, 2012 Author Hash Fellow Posted March 2, 2012 I'm testing out camera angles... the banding on smooth surfaces bothers me, I think it has something to do with "bias" on the z buffered lights but I haven't ascertained what light is doing this. I was sure it was main "sun" light but changing the bias on that had no effect. any ideas? Quote
NancyGormezano Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 I was sure it was main "sun" light but changing the bias on that had no effect. any ideas? Make a small test case with just the smooth surface (window casing) - still happen? or is it some shadows being cast from something else? Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted March 2, 2012 Author Hash Fellow Posted March 2, 2012 It seems to be related to the resolution of the z buffer map. Here's a test with a flat surface with an overhanging edge in the scene: in the original scene the res is 4096x4086 If I reduce that to 512x512 the banding becomes more obvious... If I go back to 4096x4096 and increase the width of the sun to 5000cm (it was zero originally) that seems to help a bit... Quote

mtpeak2 Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 I couldn't get rid of the banding. I had a reason for setting it to 0cm, I just can remember why. I think if the lights are raytraced, the banding goes away. Quote

fae_alba Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 I think they are fantastic. Showed them to the wife, who was duly impressed. Her only crit, the grass looks like astro-turf, and the pavers look like ceramic tiles... ah well, can't please em all! Quote

mouseman Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 I am by no means experienced with video production. With that in mind ... The video resolution for the project is currently set to 854x480 (FWVGA). Why this resolution? Is it the best one for something that will go to video eventually? Is there any reason not to use HDTV 720p (1280x720) (or even 1080p at 1920x1080), other than perhaps longer render times and larger file sizes? Quote

My proposal is for two presets, 480p and 720p. 720p would be the encouraged one but people would have the option of 480p if they have limited computing resources. The 480p footage (if any) can be stretched in post and no one will be the wiser. Quote

Put it in the main A:M forum, and put the zip directly in the post, not ftp. It's only 20MB, make it easy to find and easy to download. And give it an obvious title like "2012 A:M Forum Collaboration Project" Quote
