Grubber Posted February 26, 2004 Posted February 26, 2004 Hello, Animasters! Here is my new work. I'm tring to improve my modeling skills. Now I'm working on feet! I would like to know that You think. Quote
KingSalami Posted February 26, 2004 Posted February 26, 2004 looks cool, bet it will look wild animated. I look forward to the rest of it. Quote
Admin Rodney Posted February 26, 2004 Admin Posted February 26, 2004 Talk about your ability to articulate! I like. I'd like to suggest that the hands be a bit thicker at the base of the hand. Since this is a mech I'm sure you have all that covered though. Look forward to seeing more... Quote
nixie Posted February 26, 2004 Posted February 26, 2004 yeh, I think the hands ought to be a little larger too, looks great, keep going! Quote
starving4rtist Posted February 26, 2004 Posted February 26, 2004 That's looking great. I'd have to agree with the others though...I'd make the hands bigger if I was modeling it. What kind of look are you going for with this model? If it's for realism, don't make them too big. If you're trying to make a big, hardcore, killer mecha, I'd make the hands and maybe forearms really big, add some big shoulder pads, all that good stuff. Quote
Guest mrsl13 Posted February 27, 2004 Posted February 27, 2004 looking great....i've worked on autos and it looks like something that attacked me in a dream once after a day of repairs.......cool. Mike Quote
Grubber Posted February 27, 2004 Author Posted February 27, 2004 Thank You folks for feedback! I will try to make hands bigger! What kind of look are you going for with this model? Well, I would like to make it look as those anime giant robots That may be hard to do, but i will try! Quote
Grubber Posted February 29, 2004 Author Posted February 29, 2004 A little update! And the wire: Quote
DarkLimit Posted February 29, 2004 Posted February 29, 2004 Grubber - This is looking sharp man am loving it ..... his feet is well done; nice details.... can't wait to see his head... very inspiring work...... Quote
Ross Smith Posted March 1, 2004 Posted March 1, 2004 Dang! I like him. Looks like a mech/suit of armor hybrid, what with the gauntlet-y arms and all. With joints like those, this guy sure as heck looks like he was made to be animated. He'd be great to see in action. Do extra joints make his motions robo-jerky or fluid and controlled? Quote
Admin Rodney Posted March 1, 2004 Admin Posted March 1, 2004 Especially like your spline post. Gives excellent insight into how you are putting it together. Thanks! Quote
xor Posted March 1, 2004 Posted March 1, 2004 Sweet modelling there Grubber. I drew up an idea for a robot (i know, yours is a mech) and seeing yours, mine looks like a beat up garbage can on wheels in comparison. Actually I think I might actually try that. Might be fun. Anyway, I digress. I do appreciate how each you made each joint. I hope the rigging goes well for you. Quote
Grubber Posted March 6, 2004 Author Posted March 6, 2004 Thanks for comments! Here's another little update. I haven't much time to work more on him. Sorry, no head yet. And wireframe... Quote
Joe_Lunjen Posted March 7, 2004 Posted March 7, 2004 Wow man that is really impressive, I wish I knew how to model, I suck at it! Quote
williamgaylord Posted March 7, 2004 Posted March 7, 2004 Love the curves and contours! Great sense of proportion and style! Looks like it would be very interesting to animate as well. The first picture reminds me of an armature for a stop-motion animation puppet. Great work! Bill Gaylord Quote
Admin Rodney Posted March 7, 2004 Admin Posted March 7, 2004 Really starting to take shape. Keep posting! Quote
JohnArtbox Posted March 7, 2004 Posted March 7, 2004 taking shape nicely Grubber. You're going to have fun setting up the skeleton on that lot Quote
Grubber Posted March 8, 2004 Author Posted March 8, 2004 Joe_Lunjen: I enjoy modeling more than anything else. But still you have to try hard be very good williamgaylord: I am going to animate it. But it's long way. Rodney: Here's some close up's. JohnArtbox: Yea, that will be very fun! But I have never made really good skeleton. Quote
Grubber Posted March 10, 2004 Author Posted March 10, 2004 I have modeled the head finally. But I am not very satisfied with it That do you think? Quote
SHADOWMASTER Posted March 10, 2004 Posted March 10, 2004 I have modeled the head finally. But I am not very satisfied with it That do you think? I could do better... J/k Naw, I, personally, think it looks tight. What don't you like about it? I guess it might look a little plain, just cuz the rest of the body is so detailed. Perhaps you could find a way to put more gears/pistons/mechanically stuff on it? I dunno.... I think the whole thing looks great. Quote
Admin Rodney Posted March 10, 2004 Admin Posted March 10, 2004 You may be convincing me to stick to cartoons (and simple models) in my projects! You are wearing me out just looking at the detail you are modeling into your mech. I am SO GLAD that my primary *mech* model is based on toothpicks and matches... A lot of my thinking these days deals with life in a 2D world (as most of my drawing experience revolves around comics). Viewing your images again today made me think about the benefits of A:M as applied to those 2D worlds. One awesome aspect of A:M is that you (in this case, literally you) can build a very detailed model in A:M and through posing get that same level of detail in any angle shot you want. It sure would be hard to draw and redraw that detail in 2D! Staggers the mind... Quote
Grubber Posted March 12, 2004 Author Posted March 12, 2004 Hi folks! I have started setting up the skeleton! Here' some tests! body test head test Quote
