Admin Rodney Posted January 5, 2011 Admin Share Posted January 5, 2011 Registration submitted! I do suggest spelling 'Animation' correctly though. Perhaps 'Animation:Master FAQ'? Rock on!

dblhelix
are you in contact with someone who works on the Techref? surely the pre- and post-extrapolation parameters would merit a little chapter of their own? best wishes from "all impatience.." Hello, We have compiled that info over years and years. If some one does post that info i can add it but at this time we are not looking to add much to it. Jason Simonds
Ok i was able to merge HomeSlices FAQ with the Hash, Inc one. The users that have signed up can submit FAQ's then hash, inc can approve them. If you topic is not listed go ahead and post the FAQ under the closest topic and just not it in the head text. At this time it does not look like you can attached images or anything but if you link to them i will DL and add them when i approve your post. I see that v18 is out and I own v17 now I could be wrong but I thought that if you bought the program that it came with free life time upgrades. Is this correct I don't want to appear greedy or anything or looking for a free lunch just curious.

Is this correct I don't want to appear greedy or anything or looking for a free lunch just curious. The old plan was you could get an upgraded CD for $99 when they came out about every year or so. However there are no more CDs anymore. The present plan is a subscription download model; you subscribe for $79 and that lets you run any current or past version (v15 or later) for one year. Then you renew your subscription for $79 The subscription is also different from the CD in that it is not transportable from one computer to another. You enable your subscription on one computer and it stays on that computer.

I'm not Jason (obviously) but if you have the subscriptions all you have to do to move into v18 is install and activate it. Use the same activation code that you used with v17. That's one of the benefits of subscriptions! I have no idea what you are referring to with regard to free life time upgrades. If Hash Inc let you purchase such a thing you'll want to contact them (Jason) directly.
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted December 3, 2013 Hash Fellow Share Posted December 3, 2013 Yes, if your subscription is current you can install v18 and run it today. Copy the master0.lic file from your v17 folder to your v18 folder.
Admin Rodney Posted December 3, 2013 Admin Share Posted December 3, 2013 Copy the master0.lic file from your v17 folder to your v18 folder. I will note that this copying of the master0.lic file is not often required. Here are the steps I prefer: - Install release(s) of A:M Then while A:M is installing... - Via your browser, navigate to the Hash Inc Store, login and retrieve your current activation code* - Launch A:M and enter the code to activate the new installation when prompted (activate both 32bit and 64bit releases using the same code) Done. I only recall one time where I resorted to copying the master0.lic file over to the new installation folder. While any method that works and gets you up and running is good, the activation method may be more intuitive for the average user. Also, it's good to know where your activation codes are should you ever need them. Especially for folks that have more than one code... where keeping track of master0.lic files might get confusing. If the activation process returns an error that states the activation code is invalid then I would copy and paste the master0.lic file. *Skip this step if you already have your activation code. What I bought was the box set, and with that I mean the am program on disk and it came with the extras disk and the two disk along with the manual. I believe I paid around $300 and I thought I read that it came with the benifit of free life time upgrades, as apposed to the $79 dollar yearly subscription which limited you to free upgrades for the one year subscription period. Now I could be wrong that is why I'm looking into this any help would be greatly appreciated. To clear up any misconceptions there were no deals made between hash and myself, I just thought that was the benifit of buying the program as apposed to renting it. Thank you Yes, if your subscription is current you can install v18 and run it today. Copy the master0.lic file from your v17 folder to your v18 folder. Thank you also robcat I appreciate your help. Admin Rodney Posted December 3, 2013 Admin Share Posted December 3, 2013 Now I could be wrong that is why I'm looking into this any help would be greatly appreciated. The primary benefit to purchasing the CD is that when Hash Inc moves to the next version (as they are doing now in the move to v18) we don't have to move with them. If you purchased the CD you will always have the CD (this is the 'lifetime' you speak of). This is in contrast to the subscription that is renewed every year.* There is often confusion between updates and upgrades. An update sticks with one particular version or release (i.e. v17) whereas an upgrade moves you to the next release (v18). Unfortunately, at least in every day communication, we tend to use these two terms interchangeably. Note that we get a one year subscription with the CD so if you purchased less than a year ago you can definitely move into v18 for the remainder of that time period. Note that I assume the 12 months begins when you purchased the CD but that may not actually be the case. How long ago did you purchase the CD? When in doubt you can launch an email to Jason@hash.com and ask what your options are. *If you are looking for a recommendation: Because you have the CD this gives you a solid foundation to return to at any time. I recommend supplementing that CD with a current $79 subscription to v18. Note that subscribers can install previous releases (back to v13 at least) and use them as long as the subscription is current.
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted December 3, 2013 Hash Fellow Share Posted December 3, 2013 I believe the box deal was a non-expiring license for whatever version was current when you bought it. After one year it would still run those versions but not ones released after that. That is my understanding of it.
