Have I ever mentioned that Robert and I go way back here in the forum.

Wala! I am therefore famous by association!

Nice math BTW.

Ub Irwerks didn't have all the information and technical aides available to him that we have today, so... assuming the drawings aren't too technically challenging... in my estimation the 600 drawings a day could be doubled with judicious planning, cyclic actions that don't look like cycled actions, clever use of backgrounds/pans/cropping and camera setups. Yes 600 drawings a day is a lot but if many are only slight variations of each other that keeps the count moving upward daily.

If planning time is included in the math then that could prove problematic as it that would be a moving target as long as the necessary elements aren't yet locked down. Any change in direction would tend to cut progress drastically.

If trying to achieve Disney-level quality in the animation the number of daily drawings will also drop considerably.

I assume Ub Irwerks was only concerned with black and white Bosko-style drawings as he reached the peak of his productivity.

I do think Ub is the ideal person to use in the calculation. His technical prowess and planning capacity were surely factors in the quality and quantity of drawings he could produce every day.

Edit: Check out Ryan Estrada's blog for (daily) updates on his movie: http://onemonthanimatedfeature.tumblr.com/

It's a mix of live action and animation.
