itsjustme Posted March 17, 2010 Posted March 17, 2010 Looks great, Ken! The only question I have is about the dark queen...it looks like a hybrid with the knight on that image? Quote
pixelplucker Posted March 17, 2010 Author Posted March 17, 2010 oops shes sitting on a knight, can just delete the extra model Quote
williamgaylord Posted March 17, 2010 Posted March 17, 2010 I like it! Looks like a miniature set I once had the opportunity (and money--at the time) to buy. It was a 2.5"x2.5" board and beautifully made little chess pieces to match! I held off buying it and when I returned to the game shop it was already sold. Never saw one like it since. Nice work! pixelplucker Posted March 17, 2010 Author Posted March 17, 2010 Thanks, I just realized that the king and queen are transposed... Shows you how long its been since I played chess lol Quote
fae_alba Posted March 17, 2010 Posted March 17, 2010 oops shes sitting on a knight, can just delete the extra model was the night being bad, or was the queen being a mean sister?? Quote
pixelplucker Posted March 17, 2010 Author Posted March 17, 2010 Think it was the dark evil queen in this case. Quote
agep Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 Very very nice model pixelplucker. And thanks for sharing! I hope you don't mind but I just had to do a AO render of it The dof is not done in A:M though. I rendered out a depth map and used DOF PRO Quote
NancyGormezano Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 (edited) Beautiful chess set! - beautiful render! Stian - could you share the details/technique of your lighting, texture setup on the chess set - when you say depth map - do you mean using fog to generate a depth map? Stunning! EDIT: - I found this topic discussing creating a depth map in A:M - quite good Edited March 18, 2010 by NancyGormezano Quote
agep Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 As Nancy mentioned, the depth-map is created by removing all textures, materials and lights in the scene, and then render with fog. The depth map is attached. The white reflection is created by a luminaire. The luminaire is simply just a plain with light aimed at it to make it pure and bright white. The rest is regular AO. I think it took eight hours (overnight) to render, with occlusion sampling set to 100% Quote
pixelplucker Posted March 24, 2010 Author Posted March 24, 2010 Nice render Stain and thanks for the compliments Quote
