if you've modeled a moderately realistic eye with an eyelid, you'll create a pose/relationship that has the eyelids meeting near the bottom lid, and drive it with an action.

at least that's how we did things in the old days...

example of using fanbones to rig an eye lid

I only "animate" one bone, the others follow it becasue of constraints I created inthe model.

You'll want to learn more about fan bones and constraints.

Hi robcat, me again I was wondering about creating a blink for my character, I watched your movie with bones. Could a blink be done as an action? If so, how??? Or using the bones as you did could I use 1, 2 bones or do I need more bones. Do I use orient like constraints? or Could it be done easier with a maybe a pose slider?

You know all the possibilties ;) Go for the one you are most comfortable with... I like the pose-methode the best so. It is the most flexible thing.
