  1. Hmmm ok the 500k + is going towards a minute pitch reel. I guess I didn't really expect they would be able to make the whole movie for 500k. I'm getting some nice stuff so I can't complain. Hope they get the rest of their funding.
  2. Dang Rodney, Don may have me eating noodles and tuna this month. I am really tempted by those animation cels.
  3. BTW I felt it was reasonable to post this as it is a completely different animal than AM, and thought that people might want to take advantage if they also do 2D animation.
  4. Anyone that is interested in having a 2D animation program, may want to check this link out: http://digicel.net/SpecialOffer.htm The Lite version is only $20 right now and the Studio version is $89.99. They are offering the educational discount to everyone, I'm not sure how long this will last, so if you're interested you better go grab it now.
  5. JohnL3D, you're going to have to wave at me on the course forums. Haven't seen you yet. I posted a link there to my WIP here, hopefully people find it helpful. My current goal is to complete an animatic by end of this month.
  6. Well I signed up and so far my impression of the course is that it is very much a beginner's "get your feet wet" type course but I still think that the content is of use to more experienced people, if only as a refresher. It is also interesting to see all different perspectives everyone has.
  7. This looks interesting, do the classes meet at a set time or are you just required to view the lectures at your convenience and post an exercise by such-and-such date? I'm thinking about signing up but not sure if this is compatible with my current work schedule.
  8. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone Still hoping to complete a passable AM "Christmas card"...looking grim
  9. Sounds interesting. We don't have anything like that in the US. The illustrations on the cards remind me of Alice in Wonderland, for some reason. Are you doing this all your self or with a team/studio?
  10. So which direction are you going with this? Comedy, satire, or true to the title?
  11. Mark, I sent you my crappy mirror selfie, I hope that's going to work for you. Let me know if that will work or if you need a better picture.
  12. My last sighting was rumored to be somewhere in the vicinity of Canton, Ohio. I guess I will have to dig up the manual for my camera and sort out how to do a timed photo. I will have it to you no later than end of the week, Mark.
  13. Mark, I apologize, I have been a completely lazy bastard about it. Part of the problem is I can't get a proper photo of myself with only myself to take it, I either get that ridiculous "selfie" angle, or the bathroom mirror photo. I will have to see if I can figure out how to take a timed photo with either my iPhone or my other camera, or get someone to take it for me.
  14. If I'd known this was the designated Turkey Day thread I'd have posted in here. Guess that's what I get for not looking.
  15. It seems like every other month there is some Flash vulnerability. Maybe Adobe needs to get their act together.
  16. And you could probably fake color bounce well enough with some appropriately placed lights.

    Fish bowl

Robcat, That is a good idea, I was trying to figure out how I was going to scale the water part so it would fit properly within the bowl. I will give that a try.

    Fish bowl

That's the plan, to have an animated fish ( or at least a 5 seconds of animation) in the bowl. Do I model the water as a separate object, though?

    Fish bowl

The geometry looks fine but the materials are not looking so hot. Also, the glass material is applied to both models. I wonder if I should save each model separately and then import to a CHO and create a set, that way the materials will be applied properly and it will be easier to make out what is what?

    Fish bowl

Well, it is a start. I must have done something wrong with the materials, though, since both the table and the fishbowl have the glass material applied. Should I save the table out as a separate model and import the table and bowl into a new chor? It is difficult to make out the glass material so my guess is I will need to have the objects placed on some sort of set so that they have some sort of background.
  21. I've decided the best way to make progress is to try small projects, not necessarily related to my main film, to at least keep my skills up. The kind of thing that could be completed in a night or weekend. Hence, a fishbowl. I was curious: how would the rest of you go about handling water inside the bowl? Model it as a separate object, or try and use the fluid feature? Or some combo? I'm going to post my fishbowl model by midnight CST, if anyone is interested. At least the glass part.
  22. Yeah, I kind of assumed this would not lend itself well to telling a story but might work for storyboarding or doing something on a tight deadline.
  23. Anyone out there using Truebones on a regular basis? Just wonder how viable this is for roughing in animation, or finished product.
  24. This is just BS. I don't have a Facebook account precisely for this reason, to avoid data mining, so why do I want the OS that I paid for doing it behind my back? It's too bad there is no good way to run AM on Linux.
  25. Cool! I won a caricature! Congrats to the folks that won, I really liked Fuchur's ladybug. Robcat, very well done video. Perhaps you have a 2nd career in your future as a TV/Youtube host? I'm glad I entered, this was my first ever Hash image contest. I wish I had not waited so long to get started but there's always the next contest. I'm sure I will do better on the next one.
