  1. Threw together a beauty render just because I can:
  2. Update and wire:
  3. Thanks for the comments so far
  4. Still lots of work to do on it. All the holes in the hull will have stuff in them, and I'm going to add much more to the back of it.
  5. For the engine glow, just select the surfaces you want to glow and make them orange. Then just change ambiance to 100% and turn 'glow' on. It's actually pretty simple, but I like the results.
  6. I just noticed this thread, thanks for posting it here. Here's the actual picture, I just uploaded it: I'd like to hear what everyone thinks of it. Thanks!
  7. Thanks for the replies so far! Ross - Yes, he'll walk upright. I actually have no idea how he's going to turn out, right now I'm just modeling what comes to me, as you can see by the newest pic...
  8. thanks for the replies. More modeled = more tweaking to do...
  9. just started doodling, only about an hour of work so far. Lots of tweaks and modeling left to do.
  10. I'm making this for the CGTalk competetion. It looks more like Tim than it did before, but it still needs more work... It's my first head too, so it's a big learning experience for me.
  11. I don't have any huge things to add, but I really like the idea of this thread. Sooo... Yes, I agree with everyone above about laying splines. It took me about a year to really understand how splines work. Looking at tutorials will really help you pick that up faster. Also, simple keyboard shortcuts for selection like / (group selected), and . (select inverse) will quicken things up a lot.
  12. The one thing I noticed about the mouth is that you should put rings around it. You know on your eyes how you start with a little circle, and then basically extrude out from it? You end up with a series of circles radiating from the eye. You want this same thing around your mouth. I don't want to plug my own work in your thread, but here's a wire of one of my models. It's not amazing, but you can see the rings around the eyes and mouth. http://www.murc13.homestead.com/files/tim3.jpg Hope that helps...everything's looking good so far.
  13. Amazing! Makes me want to stop animating...
  14. Thanks for the comments guys! Zacktaich - That picture is actually a photograph. I took it this fall on Lake Michigan while I was at my old house.
  15. I've had flash for 7 days now, and I wanted to make something as an exercise. I've also wanted a nice website for a while, so I put the two together and made a flash website for myself. Any feedback would be really appreciated. http://murc13.homestead.com/files/index.htm All of the 3d work in the gallery was made with AM.
  16. Wow...very impressive. I love the textures and lighting together on it. You said that you did a 25-pass render. What does that do? I'm still trying to understand this multipass business...
  17. That's looking great. I'd have to agree with the others though...I'd make the hands bigger if I was modeling it. What kind of look are you going for with this model? If it's for realism, don't make them too big. If you're trying to make a big, hardcore, killer mecha, I'd make the hands and maybe forearms really big, add some big shoulder pads, all that good stuff.
  18. It looks really good, expecially if it's your first model. Are you going to do more with texturing on it?
  19. oi! I just realized that I didn't have an avatar until now... I feel much cleaner now.
  20. thanks for all the replies...please keep them coming, they're my main motivation for doing work on this two new pictures. First, the almost final hovercraft. Unless someone has a problem with a part of it, I'm happy enough with it. Next, two of the costumes that the robo will be seen in. I'll eventually make a big wrench for the mechanic to use.
  21. gahh... This is my first reply on this thread. You are amazing, you're doing lots of really neat stuff. Makes me feel pretty insignificant... Keep up the amazing work.
  22. still lots of stickers to add...mebbe flames too. I might also drop the reflectivity on it.
  23. This is what I had before: I like the dirty look better...so I think I'm going to go back to this and then add to it/modify it using your guys suggestions.
