Sheeeeeebump! Worked on textures for the cave. I still have more modeling to do as well as completely redo the lighting, but I like the results I got on the textures. I also made a character pose shot because I can.

Looks great so far! I like how you distorted everything, makes it look more creepy... I'd like to see some closer and larger renders though so I can see everything more clearly.

Updates: I've everything on the monster except the legs. I'm using the 2001 skeleton, but I'm running into problems when I try to smartskin the legs. Any pointers on that? If someone is interested in helping I could go into more detail...

Sub looks great so far! Keep up the modeling that you've started and do a good texturing job and it'll be perfect. As for the water, I agree that camera fog would help sell the scene. Try it out, show us what you get...

Looks good! I think if you added some camera shake from the engines or something similar it would spice it up a bit...just a suggestion. EDIT: What are you planning on doing with the sky. I'd like to see it with a few more shades of color instead of being flat. I imagine some dim clouds (of the same color) to break it up a bit.

Here's a picture of them side-by-side. I'm happy with how they turned out. I was trying to make them both be unique, but have a similar overall style, and I think I accomplished this.

Yeah, I'm not happy with that part either. When I make the high-poly model, I'll definately make it better. Thanks for the reply!

Hi everybody, I've been working a lot on modeling and other things for my animation. I'd love it if you went to my website and checked out the updates as well as the story. Input on anything is always appreciated! The link: http://mvandeweghe.ath.cx/

Modeling smooth curved metal with holes

I just quickly threw this together to show you what I would do. Anyone else, feel free to prove me wrong -
Looks great! Are you planning on texturing it?

A wireframe would be really helpful. I know it can be done though. -
Creating raised rivits on ship hull

How many patches are on each sphere? Whenever I have to do something like that, I use the 8-patch sphere on the cd. Looks great so far! -
I'll do that on my next animation. At the time of these I only had the fingers of one hand rigged... I've made a site to track my progress with this model and animations. If anyone's interested, here's the link: http://mvandeweghe.ath.cx/ (This site was also made for me to learn dreamweaver, so please excuse the simplicity of it...) Thanks for the comments so far!

Keytar animation test...more an excuse to bump this thread than anything. Hopefully I'll have some better stuff soon. http://mvandeweghe.ath.cx/keytar.mov

Awesome modeling and texturing. My only suggestion would be a bit more detail in the decals and bump maps, but it's perfect right now for distance and moving shots.

My first animation test. Just to make sure everything's working properly. http://mvandeweghe.ath.cx/walktest.mov

Thanks for all the replies! I think for now I'm going to leave the feet as they are, I still have plenty of work with rigging/smartskin on different parts of the model. If I get some spare time in the future I might try out some new feet. I changed the blue in his eyes to a lighter blue, which helps a lot to make them stand out. I might get a picture up later.

It's the darktree 'cottoball' texture that I modified. Thanks for the comments so far! I'll post updates when they're made.

I've been working on this character to use for animation practice. I'm thinking about adding a little something to him, maybe a belt or something? Input on that is really appreciated.
-
Cool character! Are you going to do anything with materials on him? I think he could be really cool with some glow and particle effects.
-
Yeah...the glow got messed up on the render and I was too lazy to fix it. Thanks to everyone so far for the comments!
