  1. well im trying new stuff again. i tried a new type of decaling with normal maps. but im having some trouble with applying them. im able to get the look i want with them but along the edges of decal where the wrap ends im getting some curling. now someone told me about applying them in a pose but i dont see how this helps. can anyone explain this any better. as you can see on the top of the hammer where my problem is located.

  3. well i sent the file last night with instructions to do 1080p render. my friend got up this morning telling me that the machine has crashed and has to be redone. he was saying that the process split was not from the A:M software. i dont understand his tech speak sometimes but he mention something about software to hardware interrupts with a software instruction set relay system. if that makes any sense to anyone. once he gets it up and running again im going to give it another try. this has been an on and off thing for the last year now so didnt expect it to work this time. would of been cool though. it handled the small image ok though.
  4. to save time ill post what i posted in another forum about the box. its an IBM mini, not your normal computer. someone was throwing away who deals in very large corporate type computing (banks and etc.) the machine itself usually runs for about $5000-9000 but the software to run on it starts in the range of $50,000-150,000. so i took the machine as is sans software. been working to get it running a unix based version but its not seeing all components yet. each core is rated at 800mhz. it can handle up to 256 processes at one instance. i do have access to a larger machine (that one is amazing. has 600 blades and each blade is a server. each server has 16 cores.) and im working with the guy who runs it to help me get mine running. from what hes saying my machine can handle up to 8 versions of windows XP running at the same time each version having 4 cores dedicated. I have it semi working but can only handle so much at one time. this was a good test for it. i was using about 50% of its full potential. as far as the actual on screen setup this is what i got. there are 36 versions of the same Windows running at the same time. the machine knows its 36 but it sees it as one (dont ask me how! i dont know as my friend hes the expert in this stuff) basicly when i send it out to render on that machine it is processing the prj as 1 item but it is spliting up the process into 36 parts. once each part is completed it puts it back together. got to give props to my friend for figuring this one out.
  5. I just sent the project file to the render box. Should get results in a bit. If its too fast ill do a high res render Edit: i just got the results back im going to have to do a bigger render because it was too fast for it to make any sense. final time on the render box on low res was 0:23 (mins:secs) so im going to set it up to do the render at 1080p and see how long that takes.
  6. took my work machine and put it thru the test... i think i need a new work machine. i guess its showing its age. tonight ill send it to the render box and see how that beast does final time was 6:18 (mins:secs) this machine is kind of old its only a AMD 64 6000+ running a 32 bit windows (wow i screwed that up) 8GB of ram 3GB usable (wait what? have to look into that) so i think its time for an upgrade myself
  7. i finished the playset i replaced the chains with rope it just renders faster and doesnt bog down the machine. Click here for model
  8. another update finished most of the details just got to add a roof and some other small things total patch count as of now 20041 mostly its the chains. i think i might replace them for rope
  9. i work ferociously when i start something. then i pass out and wake up 5 hours later (with the letter G and Q printed on my forehead every time somehow) and then i move at a normal pase or until i get hungry.
  10. just giving spleen an update on his swing set he requested. got most of the major framing done. worked on it for about 2 hours. its just under 4000 patches so far. behind the rock wall is a bench and in the back is a ladder.
  11. actually thats my friend in the video and yes that is his real voice. hes an excellent singer. you guys are actually getting a sneak peak at this video since it hasnt been released to the public yet

Hey guys taking a break from modeling that car i got into a job of doing music karaoke videos. using blue screens and AM to model the backgrounds is new and kind of a trial and error thing but its working out ok so far. all scenes were rendered in full 1080p HD which roughly took an hour with AO 16 passes i then brought images into photoshop and cut out the windows for color green screen for additional footage. then proceeded to add decorations to the room in order to liven it up a bit in my video program i added in backdrops and other goodies the TV with video in it was particularly hard for it needed its own rendering. i stilled need to add curtins and other paintings. one things i was hoping to get a few ideas for was i wanted to add lights along the fireplace and around the tree. if anyone one has any ideas of how i would accomplish this in AM please give me some pointers because im at a loss right now.   14. That corner has be fix already and the CP is deleted. I never worked with bias handles so I wouldn't even know how to use them. Right nowcim in the process of doing the front fender. It is proving more difficult this time for some reason.

I started on the hood again got about this far i tried your suggestion and only did half of the hood. came across a problem though when i try to use copy flip attach it either A. does nothing B. flips the wrong way C. flips inside out. any suggestions how to fix that from happening? using the EVo 9 roto since it was the highest res version
  18. looking at the new rotos i decided to start completely over. nothing lines up at all and its just a mess. well back to the drawing board
  19. heres a small update tried to fix the fender lines made a tire and rim for reference.
  20. ok i did some searching online some more and found 4 new rotos this is the model i have been working with but this one is much clearer but its also 2 models newer what you think? the others down here im considering too
  21. ok heres a mini update. got 1 fender done so far. for some reason i just cant seem to get it to fit right move a few cps one way and it screws it up somewhere else. i always got stuck at this part i got entire junkyard of car models i never finished because of this. this is where im at now rendered it doesnt look that bad you can see the trouble spots real good at this angle heres a side shot

  23. these are the rotos im using they are not the best but was all i could find for this model
  24. heres a wire/shaded the fender is a really weird shape and not sure how it would fit
